God, I hope so ;n; I adore Uhura.
However, any sort of racial makeup is frowned upon in the part of my country I live in (we're kind of cursed with obsessive forced political correctness. I said that I thought our pride parade was over the top and offensive to any self respecting gay person, and was immediately called a homophobe. They only took it back when I pointed out that I'm actually gay, and my girlfriend [one of my Spocks] can vouch for that). And there's literally no women of colour in our cosplay community who like sci fi :I Our city is pretty much just Asians and white people. Although, my girlfriend says she may just suck it up and be Uhura, since Uhura is one of her favourite characters

Sounds like a long shot, but I guess you gotta keep an eye out for someone that looks like Uhura.
JMO but I would NOT use makeup, people have a hair trigger where that is concerned, not surprising given the history of those types of portrayals. Kinda like why you don't see people dressed as Nazis (from Patterns of Force) at a Trek Con. Some symbols are too odious to be cleansed.
Sad how now it's a race to see who can hang labels on people first, almost as if they're afraid someones gonna do it to them and they feel they've got to beat'em to the punch.

My girlfriend actually has olive based skin tones, so when she let's herself tan, she's only a couple shades lighter than Nichols. So she won't be wearing any makeup

This would be a great picture if it was a higher resolution. I know you sometimes like a lot of clear space in your images but for a group shot posed in this fashion - very much for the camera, as opposed to an action shot - the more conventional, close framed landscape would have been more suitable IMO. Nevertheless you all look gorgeous (James Doohan has never looked better! XD )
