Hi, I'm good thanks. Yes, for the first time in ages I have a painting in progress. I'm doing it in oils, which I have not used for around 30 years so there's a bit of a learning curve. It's going to take a while as it's in a friends studio (means I get to use her paint and experience) and I can only get round there for a few hours a week. I'll put it up once it's finished.

oils are hard, you definately need time and space. it'd be amazing to have a studio one day (my dream!) i just paint at the table then hang them on the wall in between sessions so no-one touches them by accident - i have a 5yr old and her friends charging around most of the time!
oils are definately a learning curve too, i changed some things i do on this pic, i read a girl's blog whose paintings looked quite 'old', she'd ditched lamp black for paynes grey mixed with burnt umber, so i gave that a go this time and it worked out really well for me
good luck with your painting, i look forward to seeing it

Beautiful work!! Her hair and face are absolutely amazing! And, I'm glad I didn't have to do that boa; you did a wonderful job on it, though.

OMG Em! I love this so much. You've really captured the fluffy featheriness (new word?!) and movement of the boa. Love the colours giving it a vintage feel.
