Description
For the new year, I wanted to start painting with more feeling - more colors, less photo-looking and with more emotion. This is the start of that journey. It's like a blend between a painting and an illustration... a pillustration?Update: Feeling a little bolder with the shadows these days (-:

Colors are definitely amazing! Emotions too - in the end its a really interesting piece. And those blue eyes have something special in them

You have a great talent for painting eyes-- vibrant color and a lot of soul. I'm also really impressed with the eyelashes (that's something I still struggle with, that fine line between attractive volume and 'horribly clumped', but you really make them look wispy, feminine, and gorgeous). Lovely work

This is absolutely gorgeous. Did you use a specific brush for the hair strands? They look incredibly realistic, and I love her eyes. And the general soft focus gives this a very nice, ethereal feel. Really well done overall.

Thanks! About the hair... I mainly used these:

Robert is a great comic artist and posts his resources and videos.
I basically started layering in the darks (mainly hair brush, but bigger areas apof dark with soft brush), then added some mid tones and purples, then the bluish highlights. I smudged the tips of the strands that looked too harsh.

Oh, cool. Thanks for pointing me in his direction -- he's got some good looking stuff (alas, the brushes won't work with Corel Painter, I don't think.)
You put it all to great use, though. Looks fantastic!
