Description
Might of Nexus Larramar's Flagship:
Overview: The Might of Nexus is the flagship to the Nex high Praetor Lord Larramar. It has served the Nex fleet for thousands of years and was entombed along with their race when the great sealing occurred. Now the Nex have reawakened the Might of Nexus was among those ships deemed an asset worth awaking. Larramar personally commands this behemoth and it is based on a Sonar class construction ship, however everything has been geared towards offensive fire-power and the main weapon of the ship, the terrifying Diamantus Cannon. The Might of Nexus is bigger than most races super dreadnoughts but its surprisingly fast for its size, able to keep up with Nex fleets and able to point fold the Might of Nexus can redeploy to bring its unrelenting might to bear on the enemy, one of the most renowned battles of the Nex era was the battle of Tartarus where the Might of Nexus and 2 Sona class spearheaded the assault and broke the enemy lines, the Sona's both repairing any and all damage to the Might of Nexus. Its only a matter of time before an enemy makes the mistake of encountering this ship.
Armament: The Might of Nexus uses both Arc and Prism weaponry in their thousands by using the very ship's hull itself. These weapons are the primary armaments of the ship and have enough weight of fire to rake entire fleets apart. It also carries numerous shard turrets for long range fire as well as a massive complement of 40 Diamantus torpedo launchers. On top of this the Might of Nexus mounts the Diamantus cannon capable to destroying swathes of enemy ships or entire worlds.
Arc Weapons: these weapons channel energy through the ship directly from the ships energy flow to the outer hull where the projectors or weapon sites are located. Here the power builds to lethally high levels before being discharged in massive bolts of lightning capable of ripping armour and shields apart, this may also have the effect of a localised EMP on the target ship and so leave it vulnerable for subsequent strafing runs or other ships. These weapons are relatively medium ranged as the power will spread instead of being concentrated on target meaning if the enemy ships are close enough multiple may even be hit with one shot.
Prism weapons: a lot like their Arc cousins the Prism weapon too channels power from the ships power flow to the weapon sites. Here this power builds until sufficient levels are reached. The power is then fired through a sort of lensing crystal found under the outer hull. The power is then focused by the outer hull into a incredibly potent cutting beam able to slice open warships and dissect smaller craft. These along with the Arc weapons can keep up an average rate of fire of around 10 shots a minute, As not to drain the power flow of the ship too much.
Shard Cannons: these turret like protrusions are completely retractable, each turret mounts 2 Shard cannons and together can produce a prestigious rate of fire. These turrets fire specially grown shards of the Bio crystal known as Diamantide, these crystals are fired uses electrical impulses from the guns and are fired towards the target, using impact these shards impale the enemy ships. As Diamantide produces natural energy if enough shards hit the enemy hull enough energy may react in an explosive way and blow out the enemy hull causing massive decompression. Average rate of fire for these is 300 per minute.
Diamantus Torpedoes: One of the most powerful Nex weapons the Diamantus torpedoes do not use kinetic impact or warheads but instead a payload of corrupted Diamantide. This crystal has been corrupted by a sort of virus understood only by the Nex. On contact with other matter the Diamantus rapidly grows, it feeds off energy and so on contact with an enemy ship will grow at a very fast rate. The enemy will then be faced with a choice, power down all systems and yield to the Nex or have the crystal grow to a point where, like the Shard Cannon rounds, It explodes violently. Though this time a ship covered in this crystal that explodes is all but destroyed as the entire ship is decompressed as the hull merely disintegrates.
Diamantus Cannon: taking up the whole of the central area of the ship the Diamantus cannon is terrifying to behold, the entire assembly works almost of the same as the Diamantus torpedoes however the cannon fires a huge 2km wide shard of pure corrupted Diamantus, this shard can either explode in space and shower hundreds of enemy ships with Diamantus which will result in a massive explosive sight or it can be fired at a planet. The second option is the Nex equivalent to a planet killer for a world touched by Diamantus will never be able to be colonised again. The crystal will grow and ingrain itself into the planets crust, it will grow across its surface and keep going until one of two things either happen. The first is the Diamantus absorbs so much energy it explodes destroying the planet and corrupting the left over chunks or it will stay like it is, a death world to anything that comes close. This is the ultimate Nex sanction and one that isnβt taken lightly.
Defences: The Might of Nexus mounts a Bio Crystal hull made out of Diamantide, native to the home worlds of the Nex. This hull is around 4 ft at certain places and is able to withstand direct kinetic fire to good effect. Unfortunately after most battles Nex moulders have to re mould the crystal to replace the chips and fractures that will occur after combat. As for energy weapons the Diamantide hull actually will absorb most of the energy (the impact will still do damage and so will the excess energy) but the energy will be absorbed and redirected through the Power flow of the ship to boost certain systems. Though the absorption does have its limits the thicker the hull the more that can be absorbed.
The Might of Nexus also mounts a large scale Arc and Prism weapons system to engage enemy fighters at close range like a CIWS.
Power plant: The Nex do not use reactors. Not in the conventional sense. Diamantide itself produces energy, low levels but as the entire ship and most things in it are made from the crystal this power supply is pretty much endless. The ship can then distribute the energy where its needed, to power weapons, engines etc. These systems can be increased in combat but at a cost elsewhere. As the energy flow will always be equal boosting say weapons means other systems start to lose power and vi ceversa. In this respect Nex captains are masters of knowing when to give and take power away from systems.
Electronic capabilities: The Might of Nexus mounts a New crystalline computer to oversee the ships systems and also to provide information and other duties for the crew. These computers have no hacking ability whatsoever but so have incredible resilience to being hacked, due to a kind of semi sentient piece of code that wanders to the computer destroying all other scrap code and intrusions.
Stealth: The Might of Nexus is not equipped with Nex stealth systems.
Crew: The Might of Nexus carries a Nex crew of around 12,000 crew.
Attack craft: The Might of Nexus mounts 24 attack craft launchers in addition to its main construction bay these are mostly used to build Suicidium class drones. Though these can launch fighters and bombers.
Speed and engines: The Might of Nexus is equipped with Gravimetric engines which allow the ship to achieve a normal sub light speed of around 0.68 Light, though this can be pushed to 0.786 light if other systems are drained of power. The ship is also equipped with a Nex Fold drive for FTL.
this is a top down view.
