Description
One of the acrylic paintings for my Fine art Thesis project.It tells about hidden effects of violent videogames that can cause a bad result to children or anyone who plays it.
Done in a semi-abstract and cutesy manga art style.
I used the form of a Nintendo DS mixed with Sony PSP and the flowers are designed from the symbols on the playstation joystick.

And I took a photo of my work place at the art facility.

For some reason it reminds me of Kirby 64. Namely shiver star, with all the toys and such and then a factory of nightmares and chainsaws below it..
It gives the same feel of how horrors are seen through a child's eyes... Also, while you could've darkened it and give it a more ominous feeling, it's actually rather bright in colors, making it crazy and insane.
And more than violent videogames, I'd say overlooked, meaningless violence in general. Sort of the kind of "dur cut heed of 4 the lulz". The audience doesn't care about it at all, but the right person would be curious and care about every little detail, making this vision of how the world others made is.

*yah, but videogames give u reflexes, strategy and knowlage! well, Animal crossing gives you reflexes (fishing) and knowlage (fishing, bug, painting, fossils). strategy comes from Pokemon (who knew?) you can learn the laws of physics!

I'm all for kids not playing 15, 18 or Adult rated games, theyre rated for a reason, but I wouldnt say games have a bad effect on a younge mind... it just gives them something to brag about in the school playground. Cause let's admit it, thats the only time in your life when describing bloody decapitations actually gets you any friends. When you get to my age, its a good way to lose them. XD

I have played video games since I was four years old.
I'm a college student now, and I'm perfectly fine. No loose grip on reality; nothing at all.
While I find the work to be "cute" in a slightly morbid sense, I don't agree with its message at all.
