Description
One of the acrylic paintings for my Fine art Thesis project.It tells about hidden effects of violent videogames that can cause a bad result to children or anyone who plays it.
Done in a semi-abstract and cutesy manga art style.
I used the form of a Nintendo DS mixed with Sony PSP and the flowers are designed from the symbols on the playstation joystick.

This is absolutely BRILLIANT! I <3 this piece. Overall, I really like the way you separated the two realms yet symbolically connected them. Very involved piece. It's quite comical too.
I also really like the contrast between not only the colors but the sides of the piece. I am not only speaking in the left right top bottom sides, I am referring to both the inside and outside spectra as well. It seems to be a good display of parallel thinking with thinking both inside and outside the box, so to speak.
Really, I just love this piece. It's awesome.

ungh, You can't blame video games for kids acting stupid... you just cant... it's not because of the video game that the kid thinks that "shooting a buncha' bitches" will get him/her "representin' points" or some shit like that. Unless the parent is a total fuck and doesn't actualy know how to teach their kid whats right and wrong v.v"
Violent video games are not real and don't show what realy happens in the world... if people can't figure this out for themselfs then they eserve to get a fucking pullet in their face >.<

you certainly got a point with "Violent video games are not real" and I acctually should agree with you since I'm a big fan of video-games myself;
yet I don't think it's as easy as to say that video-games have nothing to do with kids acting stupid - the main problem sure is negative social influence like fucked up parents, fucked up school etc.
but at times, video-games might still be a small part of the reason why some boy decides to whack people around him

Video Games can't be held responsible that those idiots who comes out and kill people. Even if they could have some minor effect, there's no way that would make a normal guy become a killer. Many of those killers had already mental sickness or were deeply depressed, while others just blamed video games to defend themselves.
It just began like a trend. There's nothing wrong with video games as long you follow the clearly printed rating on the boxes.

of course, I didn't say anything different;
video games as a minor influence on someone who already has issues in one or the other way is what I meant;
I think going to one or the other extreme is a stupid thing to say, the answer is must b somewhere in between and certainly varies from case to case;
yet, I don't completely agree with your comment on the ratings - as you said before, games can influence one who already suffers from a mental illness but this can apply to anyone, even someone who is already like 30 or so...
I see the ratings more like guidelines, but there is no guarantee that everybody will be fine as long as everybody sticks to it

Many, MANY "scary movies" are worse then certain violent games, and I have yet to hear someone blame them. See the double standard? Movies are an accepted media, while games aren't.

the thing probably is that games are interactual so if the protagonist in a game kills someone it feels more like you're doing it yourself...
but it's true, a lot of movies include pretty hard stuff and there are way more games than movies that are considered bad for kids or bad in general

That's....IMPRESSIVE XD I love the perspective view X3 So creepy, so upseting, yet, stayed so harmless looking and cute. The little chibi girl seems so angry, yet some what scared. The jaws or spikes on the screens are just an excellent touch, bringing out a dark feeling like one would get from playing a game like Eversion...which...the whole picture honestly reminds me of XD But don't get me wrong, this is still so much more different. It's more a long the line of being cute at times, but so scary.
The flowers all angry and monstrous, even biting each other, really brings out that distinguishing feeling, that, with flowers normally such a peaceful and often safe thing, would be so violent.
The spikes a long the edge of the system make it feel like a trap. One would see such simple and, what some people still think of as a object for kids, being such with these violent images.
The reflection of only cute things being killed or tortured also is a good touch, really giving it that force it needs. The only thing this picture lacks is more looming darkness. Something that feels like it would swallow you whole, from the evil it breathes. It would have to be abstract though XD
As for talking about shading all that...Eh, I could only do it justice if I saw it in real life XD I much prefer talking about subject myself anyway.

What I love most about this piece is the perspective you, so brilliantly, achieved. The concept is well 'explained' (in the piece) as well. I just love your techinique.

Even with a theme such as this, it looks very adorable... I like it! To make such a scene cute takes a lot of skill!
