Description After pulling themselves loose from their respective situations, Velma and a wet Fred reunited and walked through a set of metal doors. They peeked inside the windows of the door, sighed to each other, then went inside.

Fred and Velma had entered a packaging room. Specifically, it was the room where they packaged Wow-O’s Life-Sized Dolls. The wall was lined with large and long shipping crates and boxed-up dolls that all seemed to be looking at the duo.

“Great, as if this night couldn’t get creepier,” Velma muttered to herself. “Hey, what do you think happened to Daphne? Do you think she got away from the ghost like we did?”
“I’m sure she did. I mean, she wouldn’t have gotten captured again…right?”

“Right,” Velma unsurely answered. “Come on, Fred, let’s look around. Maybe there are some clues hidden inside one of these boxes.”

As Velma went to one side of the room while asking herself aloud why anyone would want a life-sized doll (actually, she had an idea of an audience, but she really didn’t want to think about it), Fred walked to the other side. He started looking inside and behind each doll box. Several boxes from where Fred was currently searching was Daphne, who was inside one of the shipping crates. Her arms were still tied to her sides with the plastic wrap, her legs were tied with a rope the ghost had added, and the packing label was still over her lips (Daphne had tried to lick it off earlier, only to be met with the foul taste of adhesive). The ghost had placed her inside the crate and left her there.

Daphne could hear that Fred was nearby. “FRMMD! MMM RMMT HMM!” (“Fred! I’m right here!”) Daphne exclaimed, hitting the front of the box with her shoulder to try and get his attention. Unfortunately, Fred didn’t see the box jolt nor hear her, as he was too busy concentrating on going to each box and checking for clues. “Velma, do you see anything?” he asked.

“Not y-” Velma started to say when she accidentally stepped on something slippery. She fell back on her rear with her glasses flying off her face. “Hey, my glasses! I can’t see without my glasses!”

As Velma blindly flailed around on the ground, searching for her glasses, Fred finally got to the box with Daphne inside. He opened the lid and face to face with her “Daphne!”

Daphne was relieved for less than a second when she saw something in the sky. The Luna Ghost was flying at him. “FRMMD! LMMK MMT!” (“Fred! Look out!”)

Fred didn’t know what Daphne was trying to say or signal until she whipped her head toward the ghost. Fred finally turned around as the ghost landed on his feet near Fred’s side. Fred stumbled back, landing on his rear. Fortunately, this meant he accidentally dodged the jet of flames the ghost shot by holding out a matchstick and blowing on it.

“Holy catchphrase!” Fred exclaimed as he continued to stumble back, too stunned to make it back to his feet. “Wow, the ghost set a trap for us. I’m both terrified and quite impressed.”

Laughing in response, the ghost pointed another matchstick at the downed Fred, getting ready to burn him to a crisp. “FRMMD! MMM MMM GMMD, NMMMMM!” Daphne shrieked. (“Fred! Oh my God, noooo!”)

“Like, don’t worry, Fred!” Shaggy’s voice suddenly came from above. “We’ll save you! CHAAARRRGGGEE!!"

Shaggy and Scooby came in swinging on a chain with a hook attachment at the bottom from the rafters of the room. They were aiming to swing into the ghost and send it flying. Unfortunately, the ghost was able to sidestep their head-on attack.

“Like, that worked out much better in my head,” Shaggy muttered as the chain continued past.
“Reah. Rou shouldn’t have relegraphed it.”

Fortunately, the hook at the end of the chain had grazed the shoulder of the costume, puncturing a hole in its costume. The ghost looked down at the hole as the sound of hissing air escaped from the hole, then pointed its arms at Fred, feigning it was going for another fire attack. With its arms still pointed out, it quickly backed toward the entrance doors and ran through them with none of the gang pursuing it.

Velma (who had recovered her glasses right as Fred was nearly burned alive) had seen this all unfold. She looked down and saw that there was a small puddle of green liquid where she had slipped. “That’s interesting. I wonder what this liquid is.”

Shaggy and Scooby swung through the air again on the chain. “I think we saw that before. Like, inside the janitor’s closet Scooby and I had rescued Daphne from earlier.”

Velma looked at the encased Daphne. “The balloon room was where the ghost had first put you, huh?” she asked with a smirk.

Daphne blushed with embarrassment, mumbling into her gag about being untied.

oOo

Reunited, the full group met inside the manufacturing room of the factory. Fred was using a hose to wash away the grease puddles and any residual grease to ensure they wouldn’t slip again. “Alright, gang, let’s go over the clues we found.”

“Like, first, there was the cut-out of Pamela Anderson and that weird shrine of her inside the janitor’s closet, which is where the ghost first took Daphne,” Shaggy said.

Velma nodded and placed a bottle on the table. “When I looked inside that same closet, I found this cleaning solution. It appears to be the same color and has the same consistency as the liquid puddle I slipped in. And on the side of the bottle, there’s a warning about how the liquid is highly flammable.”

“Ren, rhere was ruh eaten ronut and rickup rines,” Scooby continued.

Daphne took the netting from the container Velma had been trapped in earlier and was rigging it up as part of their new trap as she stood on a ladder. “Finally, it looks like the ghost is using helium in his costume to float. That’s why it took me to the balloon room.”

“I think it’s clear who the culprit is,” Fred concluded. “Now all that’s left to do is to set a trap. I have it all set up in my mind. We just need some bait for it.”

“Like, the ghost seems to have a thing for Daphne. Maybe we should just use her,” Shaggy suggested.

Velma shook her head. “I don’t think so. If it patched up its costume, it could easily float and catch Daphne for the fourth time tonight.”

“Rood point,” Scooby agreed. “She’s gonna get rabbed again.”

“Yeah, you’re both right,” Fred nodded. “Shaggy and Scooby, you guys-”

“Hey!” Daphne interrupted, still on the ladder. “I can be the bait just as effectively as any of you can!”

The other four members stared at her, making Daphne more offended. “You can look at me all you want, but I’ll prove to you that I’m more than the token damsel of distress of this group!”

As Daphne climbed down from the ladder, she slipped and fell off the rung, but Fred caught her in his arms and placed her down. “Thank you, Freddie. Now, off to be the bait and not be the damsel in distress!”

Daphne stormed out of the room as the rest of the group exchanged looks with each other. “If Daphne’s insisting, I guess she can be the bait,” Fred said, causing Shaggy and Scooby to sigh in relief. “Come on, gang. Let’s set up the rest of the trap.”

oOo

Daphne walked down a quiet and empty corridor of the factory. “Here, Luna Ghost,” Daphne called out as if she was luring a cat out of its hiding spot. “Come down here and grab me. I’m all nice and capturable.”

When the ghost didn’t appear, Daphne tried a new tactic. “Help! Hellllllp!” Daphne mock-shouted. “Someone has me all tied up and kidnapped!”

Daphne covered her mouth to simulate being gagged. “Mmm, gmmst. Cmm mmt-cmm mmt wmm-mmm-vmm mmm mmt.” (“Oh, ghost! Come out-come out wherever you are!”)

Still, there was nothing. “Hmm, maybe it’s time I step up my game…” she noted.

oOo

The ghost was floating around the factory, looking around for Mystery Inc. It floated past a hallway with a pole in the middle of the hallway, then stopped and turned back around upon seeing what it did.

Daphne was tied to the pole, with rope going around her shoulders, waist, ankles, and knees. Her hands were behind the pole, presumably tied up. There was a boombox by her feet playing a song with a particular set of lyrics.

“Yeah, I wanna have the time
And I wanna see you cry
I wanna feel your body
And I wanna get closer
Gotta rescue me, rescue me
Rescue me. Let me have a good time”

That got the ghost’s attention. He swooped down and cackled as he advanced toward Daphne. When the ghost got close, Daphne pulled her hands out from behind the pole. There was a remote in her hand, and she pressed a button on it. The fans powered on and unleashed a blast of air that sent the ghost flying back into a shelf filled with miscellaneous Wow-O products, including baseballs, jump ropes, and slinkys, that were set up against the wall. However, Daphne was secured to the pole, so she stayed where she was. "For once, being tied up has actually helped me out of a jam,” she said to herself as she untied herself from the pole, then ran around a corner as the ghost picked itself up and continued to chase after her, its laughter more aggressive. With enough strength, it was able to float past the fans and continue on Daphne’s trail.

Daphne continued to run until she was cornered in front of a door. The ghost caught up to her and stalked toward her. “Come on, just a little closer,” she mentally coaxed. When it was close enough, she kicked a stopper lodged in the door. This unleashed a barrage of bouncy balls that stormed toward the ghost. It tried to float over them, but several bounced high enough to strike it down into the path of several other balls that ran it over. Daphne started running back the other way, including past the shelf and fans.

Daphne was luring the ghost to the final trap she had set up before she’d lure the ghost to the rest of the gang and their trap. Her last trap involved dropping water balloons from the roof held by a net, which would be released by the press of a button from another remote. “Thank goodness I chose to wear my tights with the pockets,” she thought as she pulled out the remote. She was about to press the button when a jump rope suddenly flew up out and caught her around the hand that was holding the remote, causing her to drop it on the floor. Daphne looked up to see the ghost holding the other end of the jump rope and pulled her toward it as it triumphantly laughed.

“Jeepers, he must have gotten that jump rope from the shelf I blew him into before,” Daphne realized as she was pulled into the ghost’s grasp. The ghost took the rest of the rope and tied Daphne’s wrists in front of her. As she struggled, the ghost picked her up under his arm and began to float away with her butt facing him.

“Let me go!” Daphne shouted as she felt her tights ride up against her rear. She turned to see that the ghost’s free hand was doing that. “Are you kidding me, you perv?!”

The ghost let out a mischievous laugh as it kept floating. She felt her tights ride up again. “Oh, come on!”

Needing to take a shortcut, the ghost and its captive floated into a storage room. In the back was a shelf that was lined with clown action figures. Between the gaps in the action figures, Daphne could see they were above the manufacturing room they had been in earlier. The ghost rammed into the shelf, spilling the action figures onto the floor and bringing them into the manufacturing room. "Let go of me! Okay, now I really have a wedgie,” Daphne complained over the ghost’s cackle as they floated toward the floor. “Fred! Velma! Can you guys hurry it up? This ghost keeps grabbing..."

The ghost grabbed her again, causing Daphne to let out an indignant shout.

Velma was standing on a catwalk that overlooked the scene. “Jinkies…” she muttered as she picked up her walkie-talkie. “Fred? Come in, Fred.”

“Fredster here, Velms,” the other line said.
“Shockingly, Daphne's been captured. But that's okay. When the Luna Ghost rounds the corner with Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby will pop out of the barrel..."
“Then you'll activate the conveyor belt, spilling the oil onto the floor. But how are we going to lure the ghost here now that Daphne's been kidnapped?"
"Don't worry. By my calculations and factoring in the extra weight of an additional captive, the ghost is going to make a stop soon, and he'll have to come through this way."

As it went further into the room, Daphne was still struggling. “This whole night has been insane,” she began to rant. “First, I get grabbed before I even get inside the factory, and you leave me tied up in the janitor’s closet with your weird Pamela Anderson shrine. Next, you grab me and stash me in a storage closet, which was very cramped, by the way. I’m probably gonna need a massage after this is all done for my back. Then, I get wrapped up by the stupid plastic machine and get my mouth taped shut like I’m a freaking UPS package. And then you moved me into that weird doll room and almost burned my friends to death. Finally, we’re here, basically where you and I started from! I’m so sick and tired of being the girl the monsters-sorry, the girl the men in the monster costumes are always grabbing and stashing away to do who-knows-what with me! I think after this, I’m gonna really learn how to defend myself. Yeah, you creeps won’t be so quick to try and tie me up after I karate chop-MMM?!”

Finally tired of listening to her, the ghost stood Daphne up, pulled her scarf over her mouth, and then placed her back between his arms.

“I can’t believe it. My own scarf is now betraying me by gagging me,” Daphne groused to herself.

When the ghost continued to float, it noticed a barrel standing in the middle of its path. “Scooby, can you see the ghost?” they heard Shaggy ask, his teeth chattering.
“No. Rere aren’t any holes in ris rarrel.”

The ghost slowly floated toward the barrel. And as it approached the pair of chattering cowards in the barrel, the bound, gagged, groped, and quintice-captured Daphne had one thought:

"I'm so over this damsel-in-distress nonsense."
