Yeah, my dad told me that he was SO afraid of himself that he couldn't sleep. So he started taking sleeping pills and accidentally overdosed.
You should go see it when you get the chance! But the movie is 2 1/2 hours long, though.

actually, his co stars said that it wasn't the role. Those are just hollywood rumors. He suffered from a cold and from that, he just couldn't sleep. He was so sleepy he just took too many pills. When you can't sleep, some people just don't care how they get to sleep

That's what a lot of people, think, but his co star, Gary Oldman said (this is his actual quote) "I know there are rumors out there that playing the joker drove him to his grave, but I never saw any of that. He was always on time. He knew his part backwards and forwards. I just thought he was a sweet kid." and Bale said "Heath got the same kick out of acting that I do...etc etc"
