XJ-9 is one character I haven't given any love. So now I'm changing that.I really have to hand it to the animators on My Life as a Teenage Robot. Jenny has one of the most difficult models to make look right when you want to change angles or poses even slightly. I feel really restricted trying to draw her on-model. I wanted to kind of stick to the model because a lot of people go off-model to make her look like she rationally works in three dimensions, but I really couldn't help myself.

Gonna be honest with you here; I actually knew about the show when it first came out, but didn't start watching it until I was around 11-12. Still, loved every bit of it! πππ

Do you think that XJ-9 has some of the gadgets that Inspector Gadget used to have like the extensible limbs and flying gadgets (XJ-9 rocket hair, Inspector Gadget helicoper head)?

Always amazing to see how you managed to make them look 100% on-model while still incorporating elements from your own style!

It took a long time for me to realize that the "simplistic" model was actually a lot more complicated for every angle of every part. The bits of accentuation you added here lend more depth, and the foreshortening on her right leg and arm help. (The column makes for a neat perspective too.) It's also nice to see her looking so happy too.

Yeahh I always thought of the animators as ... kind of being.. bad.. but the way you put it, they had their work cut out for them. This is definitely the best on-modelry I've ever seen.
