It was referring to the "Superior Spider-Man" run Marvel comics put out where Doc Ock replaced Peter Parker as Spider-Man. There were so many fans crying out about the series based simply on the fact that Parker wasn't Spider-Man anymore, rather than the actual quality of the books, despite the fact that it was pretty obvious from the get go that the change wouldn't be permanent and would probably just act as either a final send-off for Octavius, or else serve as a redemption arc.
