Wow this character only took a WHOLE YEAR to come to fruition, pffft- (Still, technically first ref of 2021, woo!)

This character was designed January 2nd 2020, based off my imagination going a little crazy during a car ride. My mother was driving me home from my dorm for Christmas, and as we were driving I thought I saw something reflective in the distance. Being the cryptid lover that I am, I thought it was a pair of eyes, buuut once we got closer it was just the reflective tape on a mailbox... Aaaaaaand thus this character was created as a sorta "what if it wasn't".

All that aside, let's get to that sweet lore!
The Postman is a cryptid that can be spotted either on the run, or within exterior postal boxes. He will oftentimes sit within a mailbox for hours on end, unmoving until the mail has been checked. Once it is, he'll slide out from it and present you with your packages, all safely located within his own internal postbox. Every delivery he hands over will come with a bonus letter... These letters typically make little to no sense, being jumbled word-salads at best.

These jumbled letters are in fact created from within The Postman himself. He appears to have the ability to somehow turn a person's intrusive thoughts, internal musings, or even extradimensional messages into physical letters to be delivered to the person involved. These "Dead Letters" will always go where they're needed, though they may not be delivered to the correct version of the person. Through rain, snow, shine or dimensional barriers, he will deliver his letters to those that need it.

The Postman is a mute entity and cannot speak, but seems to have some minor grasp of ASL. If gifted a present or a letter to himself by a curious letter recipient, he will be confused, but accepting.
