Description
Some of these were properly challenging. I think I have a Lightning Dust mentality when it comes to some of these. I keep trying to put a little extra in there. Challenge is to draw Discord in maid outfit? Add Fluttershy in there. Draw Equestria Girls Twilight Sparkle? Let's see if I can get Rarity and Pinkie Pie in there too! Ummm... it doesn't always work out
I figured out how to make submissions by iPhone which means if the challenge time coincides with my break at work, I can participate there - albeit with only 15 minutes to draw and only scraps of paper to work with. I have to use the camera to get the pictures though. The ones here are actually scanned and adjusted properly.
Also, the comic here was drawn during the special 24 hour challenge on Thanksgiving. There's no way I could do something like that within an hour. And so was this one:

For what it's worth I've always appreciated your approach to the challenges. The point is to challenge yourself after all, right? And while you do that you challenge yourself for dynamic ideas and poses and such. Really, that's my favorite thing. Trying to inspire people to do dynamic stuff is a large part of why I do what I do.
10 People draw the same thing well? Mmkay. 1 Person does a decent job on a different idea? Awesome!
Not that your art is always just 'decent' you get what I mean.
So keep up the good work :3

Thank you! Yeah my ideas can be a bit hit and miss, but for the most part I'm just trying to improve the techniques I use to get them out of my head. I like to take the Lighting Dust approach where it's all about pushing a little harder each time. I get a lot of inspiration from the other participants.Β Also, sometimes a funny idea will take precedence over a dynamic composition.Β
Also, thank you again for running the blog. I do a lot of things to try to improve my style, but the 30 Minute Challenge is the most interactive and fun. If I didn't have a full time job, I'd probably participate every time one came up. You have no idea how many times I'd be checking the tumblr app at work and see a theme I'd have an idea for, but - well I gotta keep the job.

XD I guess Lightning Dust's approach had to work for something! Just don't stab anyone in the eye with your pencil or something.
Yeah, funny is great! As far as I'm concerned the best thing an artist can do is just not be the same as everyone else and you're great at that. I mean obviously the more skill the better, but originality is where it's at.
I'm glad to hear you have a lot of fun with our challenges, it's a relief to hear that sort of thing now and then. Helps us be sure we're on track.
Don't forget you can always draw a topic yourself after the challenge if you really want to! Just because we can't post it for the challenge doesn't mean you can't indulge in a topic we've used. Of course I assume you're a bit busy for that, but it's worth keeping in mind from time to time :3
