Description
I haven't been doing many black&whites lately, not to mention "typical manga style" drawings.... although this and any other works aren't free from western-comic influences anymore. It's not that I want to get rid of this influence. Because I don't :3I've grown out of "pure anime" thingies a while ago.
It's made in size of a wallpaper, so if anyone thinks it's worth enough to land in his/her desktop for a while is free to download it (but use it as wallpaper only, please
You can even download it in higher resolution:
There's also a lineart for this in Scraps, so if you are looking for something simple to practise your coloring skills, then you're free to have a try^^

I love the blue eyes, its a great touch, but the butterfly is just too random. It doesn';t add anything to the pic and looks like it was just thrown in there as an afterthought. A better placed on would look nicer. Other than that, brilliant job, I love the black and white. Great detailing.

I guess I will have to write this in description - the butterfly has to stand-out a little, since the title of this picture refers to it (and to her belly button too, however I didn't want to make too many focal points). Ah, and the butterfly is a tattoo
They are something more than just ornaments
Thanks

it's a really beautiful work with amazing details. as for the butterfly, i think he doesn't belong there. he's a bit disturbing in my opinion. everything else is very well done, the eyes' color, too.

Thank you^^
And I did wrote that few times before, but whatever...
There's a very good reason for a butterfly to stand-out - and the reason is that it's it (and her belly button, however there's no good method to make it stand-out without being really disturbing) that it's mentioned in the title. Sigils are - in the world of magic - special magic sumbols, talismans or seals (the word has been taken from latin sigilum = seal). Sigils mean something a little different in this character's world, but basically they are sort of special seals

just noticed the butterfly and the eye colour. loving the juxtaposition (i cant spell) of the two sides. i think im gonna have to move away from anime style a bot and focus ore on my own style. keep on rocking.

Thank you ^_^
And I think manga-style is a good thing to stay with if someone likes it, but - just for practice and more of the artist her/himself in the drawing, they should know something about any other styles or just classical drawing - but that's just my opinion

i agree. i think that even if your preferred style is, say, manga (like mine is), learning other styles and techniques would greatly enhance your own style. my friend has been trying to explain this to me for a while, and only recently have i begun to see what he's trying to say, and experimenting with new stuff. ^^

It's always good to experiment We have a nice proverb here, which loosly translates to "having a try is not a gun - it won't shoot you"
I think the most important thing in learning process is to learn how to draw in a very classic way - to know anathomy of humans/animals or observe things properly, etc. - every good or even the best artists did start or know realistic/classical art (check out e.g. earlier Dali or Picasso's works)
And the most important thing is to practice, practice, practice, but that's someting everyone knows
Good luck with your experiments and artwork, you're going in a very good direction to become a great artist

heh, thanks for the good luck. and indeed, practise practise practise is most important...my work today is sure a helluva lot better then from 3 years ago.
interesting proverb: ""having a try is not a gun - it won't shoot you" i do know what its trying to say, and i catch your drift, but thats like saying "having a banana is not a gun...it wont shoot you..."
anyway, thanks for taking the time to reply to my comments. ^^ ciao.

I like it muchly. Quite simple (well, in colors anyway), yet effective.
Haha, and while it probably had no bearing on this work, it does remind me of the cover for the movie Scarface.

Movie about how a Cuban immigrant rises to the top of the mafia and drug trade in America, starring Al Pacino as Tony Montana, aka 'Scarface'.
Haha, if this sounds like the type of movie you'd watch, and you aren't offended by the frequent use of a certain 'f' word, I highly suggest you watch it.
