Description
The Type-99 Space Fighter Attack Craft “Cosmo Falcon” is the backbone of the Uncf. These versatile fighters were built to replace the aging Cosmo Zero. The fighter's agility is attributed to its sleek design and twin engine system. Featuring dual nose mounted vulcan cannons and mounts for various missile weapon systems. The falcon also features additional bays for more ordnance. A Feet of falcons were stationed on board the space battleship Yamato and aided greatly in her mission.
Here is my finished Bandai 1/72 Cosmo Falcon. Built mostly outta the box (with decals fished from the hoard) using Japanese’s zeros as a loose inspiration I painted this model up in some IJN colors I had left over from my Yamato build. Overall I was pretty dang impressed with the model kit (I might even have to buy one more) as I really just love the look of this fighter. The kit has some great detail, gimmicks and built up like a dream. The included stand is really nice and really lets you pull off some crazy poses. The biggest gripes with the kit are the crazy over engineered (and frustrating) engine sections and lack of cockpit detail.
I did practice a bit of photo editing and digitally removed the stand from some shots.
As always questions, comments and suggestions welcome.

Always appreciate the writeup and collage, what a beautiful ship.
Do you have any tips for finding models like this for cheap? Id love to give a kit like this a shot, but cant afford those crazy prices. Any time something looks cool sellers jack up the price
About how big are 1/72 ships like this?

Awesome work sir! I especially like the way you handled all the detailing on the underside, really impressive, clean build
Just out of curiosity , what did you use to glue the canopy on with? I see so many canopies frosted up from super glue residue, but not yours ( it's perfect!) its tricky to find a glue that will stick vac formed plastic to resin
I know what you mean about cockpit detail etc, Quite a common problem with resin aircraft kits...

thank you dude, means alot coming from you. i think the underside is my favorite on this build as well.
for clear parts i just use a bit of white glue(elmer's) mixed with a small amount of water(just to have to glue smooth) then apply with a brush. it really does not have a great bond but it has no fumes and is water based so there is little risk of hurting the fragile clear plastic.
yea its just a small gripe and i am sure i could of added more detail but was a bit lazy and really did not want to spend time scratch building tiny stuff XD

Thanks for the info I have used white glue on canopies on plastic aircraft kits, but wasn't sure about resin, I'm more used to working on mecha lol.
I know what you mean about wanting to add detail to a kit. As it is it looks great, so mission accomplished!

Thanks buddy!
the chips and marks are pretty easy to lean how to do just harder to get an eye for where they should go(and how much) anyways i get a scratchy sponge, something like this is what i use www.amazon.co.uk/Scotch-Brite-… (the green side) i cut up the sponge in smallest bits. i then dip the bit into some paint, dab on a paper towel blotter, then dab onto the model. every few marks ill mash the sponge on the blotter to change its pattern. for this model(and loads of others) i used a dark panzer and jet exhaust for the marks.

yea i had that green just sitting around, i really liked it color but didn't really have anything i thought would fit it till this one.
i LOVE the stand, might have to buy anther kit just for the stand, as it could easily be converted for other projects.

Nice figurines come with this. And an interesting stand. Btw, it's cool how clear the cockpit windows are. I remember when I built planes, I always (!) got glue on the windows.

thanks! the figure was pretty neat and i love the stand. it really lets you put this thing in some really wild positions.
with clear parts i use "white glue"(elmer's glue) with a tiny bit of water. it will dry clear and not do damage to the plastic.

Interesting engines. They sort of look like they are air breathing (ie, for in-atmo flight), but then maybe not. I do really like the shape of the fighter, with both a familiar and alien feel to it. Very cool!
Would be interesting to see this put up along side an X-wing or TIE fighter...

yea they do look like they were designed for that in mind, but it really just a throwback to traditional design. i really don't know the specifics of how it runs, but they are designed for anti-gravity and space flight.
hahah that's what i was thinking and i do in fact have a tie/xwing in the same scale. its just finding the time/ambition to do photos for it. at some point i really want to learn how to do composite shots.

I enjoy bright colours like these, I always make sure I have a humbrol Dark Matt Green with me with every model incase I use it, it gives a nice finish and is a nice colour for base or detail should the model need any green a colour that I can always rely on

Thanks my friend, this thing does look pretty cool and deadly!
well at 1/72 its a little bigger than the tiny craft i had been building. its about 20cm long and 9cm wide. just a tad smaller than my x-wing in the same scale.

Good paintwork (I always enjoy dark green colour xD) and good 'shopping aswell, can only see it on one image if I look closely, but never would have thought of that if you didn't mention it.

yea i love the overall design, just looks deadly!
thanks, the colors were all left overs, so i am happy they ended up working so good toghter.
yea i am slowly getting better at shopping out stuff. think i even removed my desk from the first shot. i can notice a few mistakes if i really study the photos but that's all part of the leaning process.
