Description
Here is my finished 1/35 Verlinden "Atlantic wall flak emplacement" And as I have said in a previous post, both the emplacement and flak gun were gifts from This was pretty fun to make and paint. all the details are extras are from stuff I had left over from other kits. lol and man i did a ton of them. some are very hard to see(spend clips around the flak gun)Overall the kit was great and has some cool textures and details but there is some minor flaws. the two biggest being its very fragile and pretty heavy.
So now that this is finished I need to paint a few figurines for it, get this beast onto a base and construct a downed UFO. hopefully I can fit all this on to one base but if not ill at least make a base for the emplacement and have the UFO be independent of it. we shall see....

This is pretty cool is it made from foam? I'd think you could use a ton of the packing bricks to make your own fortifications.

i mostly use "model Masters" enamel paint, then use an art acrylic for washes and weathering. sometimes some art soft chalk pastels for added dirt and grime.

Cool, I would of never thought of using chalk pastels for adding dirt and grime, I'll have to give it a try.

yea its pretty neat. i just go to an art supply store and buy them individually. i take my hobby knife and "shave" the pastel into a dish. they applied with a soft brush.

Always making new projects, never canceling and rarely finishing the old, it's how the hobby goes.

I know how that goes, sometimes I can't do anything, other days I can do a whole German tank company in tri-color camo.

No, Verlinden is too expensive for me. But I knew the set from model-shop I buy my stuff. Been there for sale for like... 7 years, I think.
But I think it's still incomplete - That big hole in the down right... I kinda doubt it was built like this. Something must have been mounted in that hole. Renault R-35 turret, I guess.

I think it was open topped for an observer (the full view so they could spot aircraft).
I think it's too small for an R-35 turret anyways, although I could see the guy in their using an mg-42.

i have the top to the hole you speak of, but the picture on the box has it like this as well, with no turret. tho you are probably right, i still think i will have it like this so you can see inside.

Closest thing I have to an artillery bunker in the backyard... is actually a bomb shelter downtown, built during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Funny thing about that shelter - it is stocked with .22 rifles, hundreds of bullets, and bows and arrows - with firing ranges for both.

Yeah, the shelter is actually part of the basement of a local youth organization. Their building just happened to be a convenient location to fortify against missile attacks - and, presumably, train the local kids how to fight back in the event of a Communist invasion.
