Finished! I took a pic of it this time instead of scanning.......it is much too big for the scanner anyway, had to splice the other one together!!!Pastels...........
*edit........bummer.............the pic didn't do much for the color
oh well............you should see it in person!!!

Such a beauty, especially the tail fathers and the gaze. I can only imagine how this looks in real life.
Also, it isn't hard to see this as a printed picture in a story book either. I think I have this one book with a story with peacocks in it (I'm not being very clear am I..) but anyways, this would be a wonderful illustration to a story of magical peacocks if there was one.
Oh and I absolutely adore the little twinkles.

I like how you did just one giant feather instead of all the little ones.. too many people ruin peacocks with too much detail
even though I personally liked it better sans tree, I still love this piece

It looks so much better in person............I wasn't sure about the tree myself...........but when I hadn't seen it all while at work, I came home and there it was on my easel, I looked at it and said, "Oh yeah"...........the picture stole all the color..........I think once it is matted and framed it will all come together!!

This is beautiful! You didn't give any details, so what kind of pastels and what kind of support did you use?
I'm just learning how to use pastels. I'm working on a dog portrait. Hopefully he'll turn out as wonderfully as this did for you!
