this one got me instantly!!! i was just scrolling my way through endless thumbnails and gasped out loud as i clicked!!! your colors here are gorgeous. what a sweet and precious image. i'm in love with the springtime feel of it. gorgeous markings on this alert little guy, and that blue eye is perfect. of course.

i was delighted to see that detail!! whenever i see a paint i hope that he has one blue eye. it's just my weird little thing for paints. this one def deserves a fullview.

Wow! It is absolutely beautiful! You are doing GREAT with those pastels. Seeing all yoru work is making me want to pull mine out again, but... not sure, I may wait until I get the hard ones, but maybe I can mess around a bit in the mean time, you rock girl and you inspire me so much!

I think you should get them out and play around a bit!!!! I use quite a few soft ones...........but those Prismacolor Nupastels are the best............. I really am having so much fun using them all.........this is a whole new way of doing things for me coming from colored pencils..........

Aww... your encouragement makes me want to do it even more. Thanks you so much, again with the inspiration , lol. Anywayz, I think I will mess around a little, maybe it would help get me warmed up so when I do get the harder pastels I will be ready to rock 'n roll. By the way, I plan on gettin' the Prismacolor Nupastels set of 96, I'ma gonna get my mama to do that as soon as I can, lol. Question, what paper do you use for pastels and what paper do you use for colored pencils? Thanks so much!

96 of them!!!! I want them too!!!!!! I have a 12 ct one and a 24 ct one..............AND 24 pencil ones and 24 Faber Castell softy ones................. Well that is 84 I will hafta get the BIG ONE 96 WOOHOO!!!!!
M Kay...........I have tons of different kinds of paper................here is a couple
Canson "MI-TEINTES" Pastel paper.........multi colored
Canson Classic Cream, Heavey weight, medium tooth for charcoal, pastel, pencil and pen
Strathmore Bristol Vellum (colored pencils and stuff)
Strathmore Bristol Smooth (same as above)

That will be good for starters! I find all that stuff at a store called Michaels, do you have those???? Very reasonable............

Yeah, I have a Michaels, but honestly the prices are a LOT more compared to this site I just found I believe it is dickblick.com Anywayz, there stuff is really cheap. I'm gonna be buying the 120 box set of Prismacolor Colored Pencils and at Michaels it was $150 and at that site it was only $85, so yeah, anywayz, my mom bought me a lot of Alpha-somethin' or other soft pastels, but the soft pastels are only really good for base colors, the hard ones are better for details and such, so I REALLY want her to buy me the 96 ct Nupastels. Oh yeah and thanks for all the paper choices, the paper I have, the tooth in it is really bigger, I want something with tooth, just have each one smaller in size, if ya know what I mean. Anywayz, thanks for all the info. Oh yeah, and I have this book, (the one that made me WANT to start pastels in the first place) that you should check out. It is called "Painting Animals that Touch the Heart" by Lesley Harrison. It is all about doing animals in pastels. She is honestly like my favorite artist and most of her paintings look so real they look like photographs. Anywayz, now that I have rambled on for forever, maybe I should let you go. Thanks so much!

Yes, I have shopped at Dick Blick...........good prices.............I did notice that prismacolors at Michaels were more..........didn't buy them there I bought mine at Office Depot..............$99.00.........I do buy all of my paper there though..............I like to be able to look at it before I buy it, and their paper is reasonable so, yes, I also have toothier' paper.............tis good for pastels!! I like trying all kinds

I will have to check out that book, I LOVE to draw animals as you may have guessed
