Wow, I thought I recognized her, and I did. I love those guys! First time I saw them I was entranced. I always go to the fair for human chess and the belly dancing. Great shot.

I saw them at that one too. The one before I believe had different dancers. I first saw the bellydancers about four years ago, back when i was still in highschool.

Yeah, I think they trade out there dancers from time to time....half of the group performs in one place and the other half elsewhere.

Oh! I love to watch the sord dances. Belly Dancing is somthing I'm hoping to start this summer, but I don't think I'll go into the sword dances, they scare me too much XD
But I love the shot ^.^

The sword dances are great, but I've never seen a belly dancer perform a fast or dangerous sword-dance. Every one I've seen has been very slow about it as they are generally balancing the sword on their head or hips.
I had a short stint as a belly dancer with a performing Gypsy group a couple of years ago and I loved it! I plan on getting back into it here in the near future

I didn't get to speak to this group, but another one of the dancers from last year signed a book for me which has some of her illustrations in it -pretty cool!

Onca does her own tarot cards even, but I didn't know any of the other girls were adept at doodling.

Well, she signed it "Onca", but the info. page lists her real name...so, a little confused on the distinction you're making...?

I realize Onca is not the troupe director's real name, but it's still "her name," as far as O know. I just didn't realize that's her in the picture. Honestly, it looks more like maybe Dima or one of the other girls. When was this taken?

I am learning, and frankly it's been three years of teaching my body that is can move in ways that seemed impossible.
And it teaches you fluidity and rythm, and I'm learning, for me, it require lots of patience.
But it should be worth it even if it's just recreational. 
I hope you do get back to doing it at some point, it is really fun and liberating.

I can't wait to get back into it. I took ballet, tap, and jazz as a small child and so have always loved to dance
