I know I have tons of other art stuff to do (like prizes) but I'm doing a series of images for my senior thesis and they need to be finished soon. This is huge so my poor comp was choking on the file size ;__; I want to make big matte prints and then add stuff traditionally (maybe splatter paint or glitter on it or something.. jflajd;a I dunno...) I don't want to add shading - I'm trying to make this series very "flat."Since I'd like to make this a print, it would be helpful to get criticism on it first. Feel free =]
This is my lead character, Aya from my comic Bluestreak. It's one of my cooler, wackier, and edgier comics about aspiring rock stars =]

I'm really loving the bold colors and edgy feel you have going on. What I feel is the real heart of the piece is the simplicity of the lines and designs in this piece so that "flat" look you were going for was executed nicely.

Fantastic work--the vibrant flats really work for the presentation of the illustration. I also like how her lips have that slightly upward curl to really emphasise her expression; her pose really adds some good body language too (the slight swivel in her pose is a good touch). Everyone else seems to have offered critique, so I'll shut up now.

lol. Awesome! Though the arms look a bit strange to me. Maybe too short? I get the feel that it probably would need to bend just a bit more at the elbows even with foreshortening. Then again- if you change the arms, it'll share a different feel...hrm- though I don't mind it too much. It looks like a type of coolio style

Oh wow, this looks very cool indeed. 8D Since I can't really critique you on the perspective or anatomy (cuz I suck) but as for me I would like to see somewhat brighter colors, unless you want to the picture to look fairly washed out (which is does). XD

I love the coloring and the hands.... I can see the girl's character without even knowing what her face looks like

without shadowing the neck looks like it's not there at all and the head is like.... broken on the front... very flat

blaaaah! <3 <3 <3 so completely cute. X3 If you want it to be flatter ... I bet it would look AWESOME if you made it have either no outline or lighter less standoutish outlines. Maybe you'd have to change the colors some so they become one or stand out according to what looks good.

by "become one" what do you mean? I added a solid color over the whole image so that the whole thing has a "peach" feel to it...so do you think the colors don't work? sorry to pester you with questions but i want to perfect it if you say it still needs tweaking ^^

oh I think the colors look really awesome. X3 you were talking about wanting it to be 2d and i thought that was a really good idea. so i did some stuff to it... it looks crappy, but maybe it will inspire new ideas? : D

the biggest thing i did was turn the blue lines to pink so they stand out less..... i also thought maybe it would be neat if it had no outline, i tried that on the left. Inner lines seemed important so i left them. put a gradient on the pants. they're receding so much that when they were just flat, it sort of fought the perspective.
just suggestions tho, since you seemed interested. And i do everything i can to NOT get around to doing my homework... *eye roll*

that link really helped! i see what you mean with no outline...i like that the blue outline makes the figure stand out from the bg but i'll experiment a bit with no outline and see where it takes me. i like the gradient idea too...i wanted a gradient in the pic but i wasn't sure where to put it. it looks cool in the pants!

have to say, of everyone I know, you're one of the most professional friends I have when it comes to taking critiques and asking for suggestions. It's really neat to have these random things I say appreciated. O_o I do try and be useful.
