"CELESTIA! LUNA!" Twilight shot up straight from her bed, covered in sweat and fear. She had a nightmare...
Luna and Celestia were defeated by a shadowy creature. The monster had the Alicorn Amulet, and it was laughing. Celestia and Luna no longer had their wings or cutie-marks. They were no longer Princesses.
Twilight placed a hoof on her forehead. "Ugh... this headache..." She looked over on her left and saw the countless number of letters from ponies, demanding answers for the attacks that Equestria suffers.
3 of them were very meaningful. Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash demanded answers. Their sister's had become stone. There was nothing more painful than to see the ones you love suffer.
Twilight has tried every spell in her books, but none had been any help. Not even the Elements of Harmony could reverse the transformations.
After a few days, Twilight hasn't seen or heard from her friends. Many times she tried to contact them, but all have been a failure. She decided to give them a break. Things haven't been this serious since Tempest and the Snow King attacked Equestria.
Twilight lied down on her bed again, trying to sleep, but gave up only a few moment later. "I'll just get back to work," she whispered, hoping not to wake up Spike.
The purple alicorn trudged down the stairs of her castle and entered the main hall, where she sat down around the Map of Equestria and marked any locations where attacks were reported. And for the record, they were everywhere! Ponyville, Canterlot, Manehatten, the Crystal Empire, Vanhoover, Amareica, and so much more!
"It's not scientifically possible! This thing can't be everywhere at once."
Twilight looked at the moon, still high in the sky, and sighed.
"I'll write a letter to Celestia and Luna, then go back to bed, or at least try to."
And so that's what Twilight did. She wrote her letter, mainly about concerns and how she worried about them and the rest of Equestria. She also asked Luna specifically, if she could take a closer look into her nightmares and tell her what they mean. This letter was shorter than most letters she had written in the past, but she didn't how to tell the Princesses that she had been having bad dreams of them being defeated by a mysterious creature.
As soon as she signed the letter with her signature, she realized she had to wake Spike up so she could deliver it to them.
"I don't like to wake Spike up, especially this late at night..." she thought as she climbed up her stairs.
"But this letter is important, the Princesses should know this." A few more steps.
"But then again, I could always wait until morning... it's after all not too important." Twilight reached the top stair.
"But it will only take a second to deliver, and they don't have to read it right away..." Twilight walked through her castle and looked outside one of the windows.
"What if these nightmares mean something...? And I'll get in trouble for not reporting it sooner?"
"What if these nightmares are the cause of the attacks?! My brother said it has to be some powerful pony, but what if-" She stopped dead in her tracks. She looked back on the moon. It has changed...
"No... Celestia no..." Twilight stepped back. The Mare on the Moon has returned, and this time, it wasn't alone. What happened? Are the Princesses alright? Has the moon always looked like that? Why hasn't she noticed?
Forget the letter, Twilight had to go get Spike and leave to talk to them personally. As soon as she reached her room, she saw Spike was already up, and he looked white as a ghost, which isn't good for a purple dragon.
"Spike?" Twilight asked.
"TWILIGHT! LOOK OU-"
Nut it was too late to speak. Twilight watched to her horror as Spike, her assistant, became petrified and solid as stone before her very eyes.
"SPIKE!!! NOOOO!" Twilight cried, tears falling down her cheeks. She ran to him, placing a hoof on his grey face. She shed more tears before clenching her teeth and growing really upset.
"MUAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Corrupted laughter filled her room. "WHO GOES THERE!!!" she shouted, both angry and afraid.
"Don't worry Twilight... I'm not here to hurt you..."
Twilight turned her head to see a dark figure in the darkest corner of her room. 2 blood red eyes peer through the darkness and Twilight charges her horn.
"WHO EVER YOU ARE!!! YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO MY FRIEND!!!"
"Foolish pony... there is no such thing as friendship in the world..."
"You're the FOOL! NOW CHANGE MY FRIEND BACK OR I'LL FORCE YOU TOO!"
There was an eerie silence... Twilight still had her horn charged at full max, ready for anything. Then, the creature slid from the shadows. Twilight expanded her eyes as she saw the baticorn emerge from the darkness. Her magic died down. "E-Ender..?"
"No... there is no Ender... not anymore..."
Twilight was confused for a moment. Was Ender corrupted by a Nightmare? Did she have an evil twin or something?
"Then you are you? And what do you want?"
"I'll tell you who I am, but not what I am... I am Ender Hyde, but most ponies call me Hyde, and I want Equestria to die."
Twilight shook her head. "That's impossible! Equestria won't fall into the hooves of evil! The Elements of harmony will stop-"
Twilight was stopped by Hyde's sudden laughter, which made her even more angry. "What's so funny?"
"The Elements of Harmony? Oh you mean your 'friends'? I'm afraid they can't help you out of this one..."
"What?"
Hyde charged her horn and suddenly, a magical vortex like window opened in her bed room. The space around was a reddish color and the window gave her a clear view on what happened.
Fluttershy, Pinkie, Rairty, Rainbow Dash, AppleJack, and even Starlight Glimmer had all become stone statues. More tears weld up in her eyes before glaring at Hyde. "You- YOU'RE LYING! This isn't real! You're doing some weird spell! This can't be-"
"Oh it's the truth little one! And incase you weren't taking notes, I sent Luna and Celestia to the moon! I managed to send Cadence to Tarturus! I stopped the Elements! And I WILL STOP YOU TOO!!!"
A sudden burst or magenta magic firing in her direction caused Hyde to move away just in time. "YOU MONSTER!!!" Twilight shouted.
More magic was fired at Hyde. Hyde used a simple shield spell to block the attacks.
"So, you actually want to fight for your friends... do you?"
Hyde didn't hesitate to use a forbidden spell. A torturing curse. It felt as if Twilight was burning alive on the inside, and being ripped apart skin and bone on the outside. She managed to find the time and strength to shock Hyde away. Hyde fired fireballs at Twilight, which she used a water spell to put them out.
"You wouldn't be this powerful if it wasn't for your alicorn magic! Now would you?"
"The magic of friendship makes me powerful!" Twilight said, summoning 3 elemental swords: light, water, and wind.
"There IS no Magic of Friendship! It's all been a LIE!"
Twilight fired the swords in her direction, where Hyde simply encased herself in a shadowy sphere and was set free when the swords deflected from them.
"You never had real friends have you!?"
"Friendship is NOT Magic!!!"
The 2 alicorns fired a magic beam at one another, Twilight found it a struggle at first but managed to gain the upper hoof quickly.
"Admit it Hyde! Nothing can beat the Magic of Friendship!"
"'Friend' always ends in an 'end'!" Another glow appeared in front of Hyde. One that startled Twilight.
"The ALICORN AMULET?!" Twilight shouted
"No... MY ALICORN AMULET!!!"
Twilight felt weak all of a sudden. She was losing control of her magical stability and couldn't fight against Hyde any longer. Then in the blink of an eye, Twilight was fired back and hit the wall. It hurt a lot more than it should have.
"Hmm... I think you'll be better off... in the Reflected Mirror Realm."
Twilight looked at Spike once more, before looking at the moon, then Hyde, then the floor. She thought about her friends. Her family. How she disappointed them all.
"I'm so sorry everypony..."
Hyde snickered. "I'm not..."
