Info: Ophelie is a thief of the night, notorious only under her moniker of The Midnight Minx. A kleptomaniac for riches at heart, there’s no treasure that’s beyond her dexterous reach thanks to the unique artifact hiding behind her eyepatch.

Medusa’s Third Eye has the ability to paralyze whomever makes eye contact with it, the effect lingering until its eyepatch is replaced. It is a treasure that Ophelie once acquired in the midst of a heist within Sedna’s Capital City of Faemantle.

Ophelie and her dearest friend, Lilly, had been plotting the theft of a prized jewel from the Queen’s vault, located right within Amaryllis’ castle itself. The two had been small-time street rats up to this point, no more than nuisances that crawled the slums of the port city of Ironbay, and in order to make a name for themselves, they dared for something bigger. At the time, the young Queen’s husband had only recently died, and so the funeral proceedings had been occupying a majority of the castle’s guard. It was the perfect time to strike.

The heist went well. With the jewel in Lilly’s possession, the two were ready to make their escape, their plans having gone off without a hitch. That is, until curiousity got the better of Ophelie. Within that same vault, a spherical object crafted of strange metals resided, bearing the likeness of a removed snake’s eye. It tempted Ophelie beyond measure. Though the one great jewel should have been enough to get the two off the streets, her greedy heart wanted more, in spite of Lilly’s protests and insistence that the two should hurry and make their escape. As Ophelie would reach for the eyeball, it began to shimmer and vibrate, before suddenly leaping through the air like a bullet, colliding with her left eyeball and burrowing itself into her head.

With a chilling scream, Ophelie collapsed to the ground, not even considering the noise she was making as she let loose her cries of agony, cupping her hands over the sudden injury. Acting quickly, Lilly shed her cat-eared cloak, equipping it onto her friend and forcing her to take some of its cloth into her mouth to bite down upon, so that she may dampen her shouting. But the damage had already been done. Footsteps could be heard coming their way from outside the vault.

Helping Ophelie to her feet, the two were forced to run, narrowly escaping the vault and down the hallway before the investigating guardsmen could round the corner upon them. Making their way along their plotted escape route through a lesser traveled side of the castle, everything seemed in the clear, and the two stopped for a moment to take a breather near the exit. It was then that Ophelie, for the first time, removed her blood-stained hands from over her eye, asking Lilly if it looked as bad as it felt. This was the fatal mistake.

When Lilly gazed upon Ophelie’s injury and locked eyes with the snake’s piercing, sapphire gaze staring right back at her, her muscles tightened up and she froze in place, unable to move.

Footsteps, once again, drew near. The time to go was now, but only Ophelie, terrified at the sudden state her friend was in, found herself able to move. She pushed and shoved at Lilly, begging her to move, but that catgirl’s eyes were in a panic, not even her lips able to open, words muffling behind them.

With the guards nearly upon them, Ophelie had no choice. In her state, having lost so much blood, it would be impossible to carry the catgirl to safety. She would have to leave Lilly behind.

...but not before reaching into the small purse upon her fellow thief’s belt, plucking the desired jewel they had come here for. With a sorrowful apology, she turned her back and made haste in her exit, abandoning her dear friend to be captured.

As the years would pass, the tragedy that night would come to be seen as more of a blessing. This artifact-- Medusa’s Third Eye, as she would learn-- allowed her to take her name out of the slums, much more so than the prized jewel itself had ever done.

Now, Ophelie resides within the Capital City itself, though it is not her name that others fear when they go to bed at night. It is The Midnight Minx. Many wealthy citizens have learned to simply keep their riches out in the open, rather than locking them away or protecting them with any sort of spells. Why?

Because aside from stealing riches themselves, the greedy Minx is also notorious for ‘playing’ with the victims of her robberies… especially if they have something to hide. Her ability to paralyze anyone who meets her Eye’s gaze allows her to not only traipse about their residence unhindered, but also, to torment out of them the locations of any and all of their riches.

With more bold heists and grand thefts under her belt than she could reasonably count, Ophelie has earned herself quite the reputation, as well as a few less-than-friendly rivalries, as there are those within her profession whom would seek to take the eye’s power for themselves.
