Chapter One-Cari’s Loss

Cari looked around.  How did this happen?  I don’t understand!  Where are you Moonlight!  I came all this way!  Come back, please! Cari looked around to the darkness that surrounded her.
“Moonlight, please come back,” Cari shouted.  But it was hopeless.  Only the sound of her own sobs echoed back to her.  The dark forest stood silent.  The trees seemed to tower down on her and mock her.  “PLEASE,” her voice came out all wrong.  Why did I lock Moonlight up!  I knew he liked the wild!  The trees, the forest, and the freedom. WHY!  If only.  Now he is dead.  Moonlight was worth so much to me.  And Trudi, she will be heart broken.  I should go back..  REMEMBER!  What happened when Moonlight left?  Cari began to drift back to the past memories.
“So Moonlight, would you like fresh carrots or a ham?” Said Cari sarcastically.  Moonlight stared up at her, his little eyes searching for the ham as he licked his lips.  Why couldn’t Cari Ann realize that I was different than those weaklings that munched on carrots!  I HATE CARROTS!  Sheesh..  Two legs can be so stupid.  Yet I love this one.  Cari laughed and set down a pile of carrots and walked off, chuckling.  That’s it! Moonlight glared at the pile of carrots and ran to the door.  THE DOOR IS WIDE OPEN!  Moonlight ran to the door. BAM! Moonlight hit the invisible screen and popped backwards hitting the edge of the counter.  Ouch..  I can’t believe I fell for that.  You know what!  I will just cut that stupid screen!  Moonlight cut a small slit in the screen and squeezed out.  She always keeps me locked up!  There has to be some more rabbits out there.  Hopefully..  Please let there be..  Giving one last look at the house he had grew up in, he stepped out of the door.

1 Day Later

“MOONLIGHT,” Said Cari fearfully.  “Moonlight, come here!”  Cari walked out of the house, and to the forest called Ensidue.  Moonlight, where are you!  I can’t…  Cari looked for hours and hours until darkness took the skies.  Where AM I, where!
Cari sighed, she stood up, the darkness engulfing her.  She saw a small light from her house.  I better go home.  If that is my house, I hope it is.  Cari ran, her footsteps echoing through the darkness.  As she ran, she sensed eyes watching her every move.  This place is haunted!  I HAVE to get home!
“Toby, how am I going to tell Trudi,” Said Cari hoarsely through tears.
“More importantly, your mom and dad,” said Toby fiercely.
“Hello you guys, you on a date?  Hello, Toby.” Said Cari’s brother Josh.
Cari snarled at Josh giving him a, “shut up” look.
“Moonlight ran away yesterday Josh.  Cari feels like it is her fault.” Said Toby, blushing as bright as a tomato.
“Whatever never liked that monster anyways?  Well, James is coming over with his wife.”  Josh paused and looked like he was about to crack up. “Wilma-Ann-Sharman, is her name.”
“What is wrong with that name?”  Said Toby.  “Make sure you don’t mess anything up.  Or dad will skin your hide.” Said Josh sarcastically.  Josh laughed and walked away, apparently heading to the kitchen.
“Toby, I can’t face Trudi.  Will you tell her for me?  I would really love it.  I am SO tired from all that searching.  Just make something up.  Something to make it not sound so bad” Said Cari.
“Sure, but I don’t think I have experience telling little kids that their pets have died.  I am only sixteen!” Said Toby as he headed up the stairs.  Giving one last look at Cari sitting on the couch, tears in her lovely blue eyes.  He walked towards Trudi’s room.  What should I say!  Toby thought rapidly.  Trudi, there has been an accident… NO!  Trudi, Moonlight has…  NO!  Trudi once there was..  YES!  I will just tell her a story..
Cari sat on the couch, looking quietly upon the photo of Moonlight and Trudi together at Easter.  She sighed and went to the kitchen to get some Oreos and Milk.
“Mary, no, MARY!  Don’t you dare hang up on me!”  Said Josh yelping in to the phone.  Struggling to act tough, but his voice was breaking.  “Mary, I know you liked Moonlight…  Yes I know your rabbit liked him…  Mary calm…  MARY!   Call me back later!”  Josh slammed the phone onto the base.  The sunny themed kitchen with flowers and blue did not reflect a happy mood onto its occupants like it should.  Cari opened the cupboard with a sad, drowning feeling inside.  Little did she know she was being watched.  By something that all two-legs would fear.  Something that would strike fear into the hearts of all beings that lived by the dark forest of Ensidue.  Because Cari-Ann was right about being watched when she left the forest.  And she didn’t even have a clue.

Chapter Two-Toby’s Tale

Toby stood outside Trudi’s door.  His hand shaking.  His feet sweaty and limp.  He turned the handle and opened the door.  Trudi sat on her bed, doodling a picture of something.  Toby leaned over to see what it was.  Horror stung his heart as the bright eyes and bunny ears of Moonlight stared back at him.  Her sky blue room with oceans and palm trees lined the room.  Was Moonlight at a beach?  Running with fear and horror along the water?
“Toby!  What a pleasant surprise!”  I always relish seeing you!  The twelve-year-old hopped up from her bed and gave him a HUGE hug.  “So, are you and Cari dating?”  Her calm blue eyes were different from her sisters.  Trudi’s strait blonde hair tweaked with brown highlights practically glowed back at him.  He cared so much about Cari.  Since they were in kindergarten.  But he was confused and stuck between whether Cari thought they were great friends or something more.  Trudi would never understand this, for she was not allowed to date until she was fourteen.
“Trudi, it is pleasant to see you.  But we have important things to talk about.  I am going to tell you a story” Said Toby.  Trudi gave him a strange look but offered him a spot on her bed.  “Once upon a time.  There was a rabbit.  A lovely rabbit.  That rabbit left one day, to go to the wild.  The rabbit was sick of the warm house.  A girl went out to search for her missing pet, but couldn’t find the rabbit.  She finally saw the rabbit, but the rabbit wanted to live in the wild.  So the little girl let the rabbit live in the wild.” Said Toby weakly.
“Let me fill in the blanks” Said Trudi thoughtfully.  “You are talking about Moonlight and Cari.”  Toby forgot about how smart Trudi had become.
“Yes,” Said Toby weakly.
“Well than,” Said Trudi as she hopped off her bed and grabbed a jacket.
“What are you doing?” Toby said quietly, expecting a shower of tears.
“I am going to go find Moonlight, to see if he really found a home in the wild.  Like you said, Moonlight found a home there.   If he has, I am going to find him and bring him back.” Said Trudi, determination in her eyes.  She stood up and headed towards the door, giving one last look at Toby.  Toby jumped up and raced after her.  And on Trudi’s windowsill peaking in from outside, was the bright eyed and bunny eared rabbit they called Moonlight.  They had never noticed.

     Chapter Three- Mystery

Trudi sat on the back porch, looking out to the forest.  Her knapsack on her shoulder with a pile of carrots and treats for Moonlight embedded inside.  The backpack on her back strained her shoulders and made them ache.  She brought some food, water, and sleeping supplies.  Just incase she would need it.  Oh Moonlight!  Have you really made a new home in the forest!  Trudi thought aimlessly.  Why does everyone care so much about Moonlight?  He is just a pet.  But than, he is something more.  Trudi thought back to when they got Moonlight, a small gray bundle of fur.  We found Moonlight.  Where?  Yes, now I remember.  When we were investigating this little forest.  Something clicked inside her brain.  Moonlight just wanted to go back to where he belonged!  But, Moonlight never said goodbye.  And for that, Trudi must search for him.  She thought of when she found him.  A tiny fur ball on a log, shimmering several colors under the Moonlight.  He had been badly injured and needed care immediately.  Luckily, she had been there.  Would I have to unravel the Moonlight Mystery?  Peeking out from the dark forest was a group of animals.  Their eyes glistened.  Indeed, they were a group no two-leg knew about.  The group they called, “The Order of Angelatine.”  They watched intently as the Mystery of Moonlight unraveled.  And all of them thought with a hint of sorrow, “The shimmer of the moon will consume the walking two.  And when they wake, the point of peace shall be broken.”

Chapter Four- Darksky Clan

Moonlight stared up into the sky, his heart beating rapidly.  What should I say?  My clan would no longer respect me if I tell them I have been visiting my old home.  I still miss my two-legs.  But now I am the leader of Darksky Clan.  A clan of strong and brave rabbits.  I love all my clan.
Moonlight was now the leader of Darksky Clan.  A clan in the forest of Ensidue.  There were six clans in the area, five in the forest.  The first two clans were of cats, called Shadowheart and Lightheart Clan.  The other two were made up Rabbits, Darksky and Lightsky Clan.  The fifth clan was the “Easy Life” a. k. a. the pets of two-legs.    The sixth clan was made of all elders and the strongest warriors.  They were the group that ruled the forest and kept everything in line.  They were called “The Order of Agelatina” and they were made up of both cats and rabbits.  They have “special abilities” and watch all that goes on. The five clans met every half and full moon.  They did not get along, but at the meeting they were sworn to peace.  Though, the Order of Angelatine did not fight, unless to correct the forest.
“MOONLIGHT,” Said Lightheart.  Lightheart was the deputy of Darksky.  His name was shared with the Lightheart clan.  The clan had to leave to the meeting and they were all waiting on him.
“Tawnypaw, Sharpheart, Firesun, and Mooneye stay here to guard camp.” Said Moonlight as he got up to leave.
“Yes Moonlight,” Said the group as they resumed post.  He headed the short trail to the meeting at Sun and Moon Rock.  Which was the location of The Order of Agelatina.  There was a meeting place right next to the clan’t nest.  Moonlight took his spot by the rock.  Also by the rock was the other leaders and deputies.  Firemight, Agonypaw, Sharpeye, Moonstar, Sunstar, and Shimmerheart.  On top of the rock were the leaders and deputies of The Order of Angelatina.  There were two leaders and two deputies.  Sunmoon, Moonsun, Shimmereye, and Goldentail.
“Firemight, leader of Shadowheart.  I ask you to begin the meeting with your news and updates.  I, Moonsun, give you permission.” Said Moonsun.
“Thank you Moonsun”  Said Firemight.  Firemight turned to the clans and started his announcements.  “Cats and rabbits of all clans.  We have two new apprentices and one new warrior for our clan.  Moonhigh gave birth to four lovely kits.  Their names are Shykit, Starkit, Lightkit, and Firekit.  We have had a two-leg enter out territory, and they have been trampling down plants.  I suggest we drive this nonsense out of our territory and attack at will!” The cats of Shadow heart Clan started to yowl in agreement.  OH NO! Moonlight gasped.  Was that Cari or Trudi?  The Order of Agelatina turned to Moonlight.
“Moonlight, we need to talk about a vision after the meeting.  Please send your clan back afterwards, you shall stay here for a while, while we discuss this.” Said Sunmoon with a glint in her eyes.  The order of Angelatine knew all about Moonlight’s Past.  And they were eager to know more, much more.

Chapter Five-  Trudi’s Expedition

Trudi buckled her boots and buttoned her jacket.  She looked out to the forest and walked out.  Her heart struggled to take what she might find out there.  Pairs of eyes watched her as she stepped over logs and puddles.  She saw a small nest in a bramble thicket.  She stepped over a log and brushed the leafs from her face.  “Moonlight?”  Said Trudi question.  Nothing answered except the chirping of birds and the leaves under her feet.  Suddenly a twig snapped and Trudi spun around.  There standing before her were five cats, each with their claws extended and unusual necklaces.  She glanced closer for a better look, she saw a berry.  The berry was bright red, the color of blood.  They all had the same “blood berries” around their necks.  They hissed and Trudi stepped backward.  “Don’t hurt me,” Said Trudi fearfully.  The cats advanced and suddenly, something jumped in front of them.  Something as pale as the moonlight that shaded the forest.  More appeared, and more until Trudi fell aimlessly backwards on a log.  Everything went pitch black.

Chapter Six-  Wilma Ann Sharman

“Cari, this is Wilma.”  Said James proudly.  “Wilma, this is my sister, Cari.”   “Pleased to meet you Wilma Jane.  Err..  I mean Wilma Ann Sharman.  Sorry ‘bout that!”  Said Cari.
“Oh that’s ok!  I heard you have a rabbit!  I have tons.  I eat them!  So are we going to have him/she tonight?”  Said Wilma Ann Sharman.  James, Josh, and Cari turned pale.  They all were thinking about moonlight.  Toby came out from the bathroom, apparently listening in on the conversation.
“I better go, really!” Said Toby quickly and started towards the door.
“Don‘t leave Toby!  I really want you here!” Said Cari as she winked at him.  Toby turned bright red and backed away from the door.
“Cari and Toby, sitting in a tree….” Mocked Josh.  “I remember my first girlfriend” Said Wilma Ann Sharman quietly.
“Girlfriend?” Said James.
“Oh..  No.  Boyfriend.  Sorry!” Said Wilma Ann Sharman.  Right than Patty and Matt walked down the stairs.  They were Josh’s, James’s, Cari’s, and Trudi’s parents!
“Children, where is…. TRUDI!” Shouted Patty.
“Oh no!” Whispered Toby.

Chapter Seven- Moonlight

“Moonlight, please come with us.”  Said Sunmoon quietly.
“Yes sir, but….  Why am I here?”  Said Moonlight.  The leaders sat down in a small cave lit by candles.  A pile of prey and water nestled the ground.
“Eat first Moonlight, help yourself.” Said Moonsun.  Moonlight picked up a vole from the pile and ate quickly.  As soon as he was done eating they started the meeting.
“Moonlight, do you remember you past?” Said Sunmoon.
“No, only being in the hands of the two legs.”  Said Moonlight.
“You aren’t an average rabbit, you have powers- like us”  Said Moonsun.
“WHAT!  How do you…” Said Moonlight.
“Decode this riddle we got.  It concerns the future of your life…  The shimmer of the moon will consume the walking two.  And when they wake, the point of peace shall be broken”  Said Sunmoon.  The meaning popped into Moonlight’s head.
“It means…  The dilemma of me being missing will consume all the thoughts of finding me by the two…  My old owners.  When they stop searching, and give up.  A war shall break out.” Said Moonlight quietly.
“Correct!”  Said Moonsun.  “We do not want a war.  You must prevent it.  Let this riddle help you Moonlight, for we do not even know what it means.”  Moonlight gasped and listened intently.  “Wanders in the lost, the ruler’s past ruler.  Until the lost is found the hearts of many will be broken.  When found, the truth must be reviled and the blue must drip water.  And the real cause will fight when tiger and hare will meet in battle.  And the wise must choose a path that you can’t turn or shape.”  Moonsun looked up, “help the blue.  And meet tiger in battle.  NOW GO!” Moonsun yelped and shoved Moonlight outside the cavern.  Moonlight narrowed his eyes, the blue was in trouble.  And he had to help.

Chapter Eight- LIES and Truths

“CARI!” Said Patty angrily.
“Yes mom.”  Said Cari weakly.
“YOU were suppose to watch Trudi, where is she?!” Said Patty again.
“Mom, she is just playing outside.”  Said Cari quietly.  Toby turned quite pale and looked at Cari with a dead stare.
“Cari, go find Trudi.  She needs to meet Wilma!” Said Matt.  Cari stood up and walked over to the front door.
“Toby will you go with me?”  Said Cari.
“Sure!”  Said Toby as he headed over to the door next to her.  They both got their shoes on and jackets buttoned and opened to the door.  Sitting on the doorstep, was one of Trudi’s boots.  But the other one was not there.   “Oh no,”  Whispered Toby.  They needed to hurry, and they stepped out into the dark with a grim look on their faces.

Chapter Nine-  WAR

Moonlight snarled at the other cats.  Who snarled back.
“Why are defending this two-leg?”  Snarled the leader of Shadowheart Clan, Firemight.  Moonlight looked down, dreading this moment.
“This two-leg was my past owner, I knew…..”
“YOU WERE ONCE A BUNNY-PET!  Ha!  You must not be loyal to this clan that.  To be protecting your old owner!  I knew you were messed up!  Let’s kill him!”  Said Firemight as he began to advance on Darksky Clan and Moonlight.
“Firemight, it isn’t because I am unloyal to the clan.  It is because I know this two-leg.  And the only reason she is here is to look for me.”  Said Moonlight quietly.  Everyone was silent, quiet as could be.  They watched as the little girl got up, her hands bleeding.  And tears dripping from her blue eyes.
“Moonlight,”  Said Trudi extending her arms to meet him.  Moonlight looked up at the girl, and he hopped on her lap.
“Moonlight, are you going to stay here or go with you two-legs- I mean owners.”  Said Lightheart.  Moonlight looked up at Lightheart.  He stood and did something he thought he would never say.
“I, Moonlight, leader of Darksky Clan, hereby decrown myself and step down from leader.  Thereby, I, Moonlight, give Lightheart to the stars as a leader of Darksky Clan.”  Moonlight said quietly.  “Tiger and hare shall meet in battle.”
Trudi gasped as she struggled to hear what they were saying, but it was impossible.  Suddenly, a twig snapped and The Order of Angleatina stepped out.
“Moonlight tell me what that riddle meant.”  Said Sunmoon.
“Ok…  Wanders in the lost, the ruler’s past ruler.  Until the lost is found the hearts of many will be broken.  When found, the truth must be reviled and the blue must drip water.  And the real cause will fight when tiger and hare will meet in battle.  And the wise must choose a path that you can’t turn or shape.  Lost in the woods, Moonlight’s old owner.  Until the two-legs find Moonlight, many people will be sad.  When Moonlight is found, Moonight must tell the clan what really happened in his past.  And Trudi will cry.  The real cause is, mercy, when cat and rabbit meet in battle.  Moonlight must choose a path that he can’t go back on.” Said Moonlight quickly.
“Moonlight, you shall return some day to join The Order of Angleatina.  But for now, you will be with this little girl who need a best friend.”  Said Sunmoon.  “Go Moonlight”

Chapter Ten-  Happy Ending

Trudi looked up.  No cats, no rabbits, only Moonlight and her.  She grinned.  Maybe this never happened?
“Come on Moonlight!”  Let’s go home.  Moonlight nodded and followed behind the girl that he loved.
They arrived home.  Happily skipping with Moonlight.  “Moonlight, I lost my boot trying to sneak away from Josh.  I can’t find it now.”  Said Trudi.  When they approached the front porch they saw Cari and Toby.  Toby was comforting Cari while she cried.  Toby looked up, and a smile crossed his face.
“Trudi, Moonlight, so glad you are back!” Said Toby.  Cari looked up and said the same.  She jumped up and hugged them both.  Trudi and Moonlight entered the house, where there were several “Thank goodness your backs.”  While Cari and Toby stayed outside.
“I better be getting home.”  Said Toby.
“Toby, no person could have done what you did.  You care about you so much!”  Said Cari quietly.
“It was nothing Cari!  I am six-teen.  No problem!”  Said Toby.  Cari looked up at Toby and gave him a quick kiss.
“Thanks Toby.”  Said Cari.  Toby said nothing, but had a face so red it looked a lot like a red chili pepper.  He walked away down the street.  And gave a goodbye signal with his hand.
Moonlight looked up at Trudi.  While she talked about what happened to her.  Giving up the group you love isn’t so bad when there is another person that needs a leader and a friend a lot more.  And when that person did need him anymore, he would join the life he wanted to live.  And help others in need.

Trudi gave him a strange look but offered him a spot on her bed.  “Once upon a time.  There was a rabbit.  A lovely rabbit.  That rabbit left one day, to go to the wild.  The rabbit was sick of the warm house.  A girl went out to search for her missing pet, but couldn’t find the rabbit.  She finally saw the rabbit, but the rabbit wanted to live in the wild.  So the little girl let the rabbit live in the wild.” Said Toby weakly.
“Let me fill in the blanks” Said Trudi thoughtfully.  “You are talking about Moonlight and Cari.”  Toby forgot about how smart Trudi had become.
“Yes,” Said Toby weakly.
“Well than,” Said Trudi as she hopped off her bed and grabbed a jacket.
“What are you doing?” Toby said quietly, expecting a shower of tears.
“I am going to go find Moonlight, to see if he really found a home in the wild.  Like you said, Moonlight found a home there.   If he has, I am going to find him and bring him back.” Said Trudi, determination in her eyes.  She stood up and headed towards the door, giving one last look at Toby.  Toby jumped up and raced after her.  And on Trudi’s windowsill peaking in from outside, was the bright eyed and bunny eared rabbit they called Moonlight.  They had never noticed.

     Chapter Three- Mystery

Trudi sat on the back porch, looking out to the forest.  Her knapsack on her shoulder with a pile of carrots and treats for Moonlight embedded inside.  The backpack on her back strained her shoulders and made them ache.  She brought some food, water, and sleeping supplies.  Just incase she would need it.  Oh Moonlight!  Have you really made a new home in the forest!  Trudi thought aimlessly.  Why does everyone care so much about Moonlight?  He is just a pet.  But than, he is something more.  Trudi thought back to when they got Moonlight, a small gray bundle of fur.  We found Moonlight.  Where?  Yes, now I remember.  When we were investigating this little forest.  Something clicked inside her brain.  Moonlight just wanted to go back to where he belonged!  But, Moonlight never said goodbye.  And for that, Trudi must search for him.  She thought of when she found him.  A tiny fur ball on a log, shimmering several colors under the Moonlight.  He had been badly injured and needed care immediately.  Luckily, she had been there.  Would I have to unravel the Moonlight Mystery?  Peeking out from the dark forest was a group of animals.  Their eyes glistened.  Indeed, they were a group no two-leg knew about.  The group they called, “The Order of Angelatine.”  They watched intently as the Mystery of Moonlight unraveled.  And all of them thought with a hint of sorrow, “The shimmer of the moon will consume the walking two.  And when they wake, the point of peace shall be broken.”

Chapter Four- Darksky Clan

Moonlight stared up into the sky, his heart beating rapidly.  What should I say?  My clan would no longer respect me if I tell them I have been visiting my old home.  I still miss my two-legs.  But now I am the leader of Darksky Clan.  A clan of strong and brave rabbits.  I love all my clan.
Moonlight was now the leader of Darksky Clan.  A clan in the forest of Ensidue.  There were six clans in the area, five in the forest.  The first two clans were of cats, called Shadowheart and Lightheart Clan.  The other two were made up Rabbits, Darksky and Lightsky Clan.  The fifth clan was the “Easy Life” a. k. a. the pets of two-legs.    The sixth clan was made of all elders and the strongest warriors.  They were the group that ruled the forest and kept everything in line.  They were called “The Order of Agelatina” and they were made up of both cats and rabbits.  They have “special abilities” and watch all that goes on. The five clans met every half and full moon.  They did not get along, but at the meeting they were sworn to peace.  Though, the Order of Angelatine did not fight, unless to correct the forest.
“MOONLIGHT,” Said Lightheart.  Lightheart was the deputy of Darksky.  His name was shared with the Lightheart clan.  The clan had to leave to the meeting and they were all waiting on him.
“Tawnypaw, Sharpheart, Firesun, and Mooneye stay here to guard camp.” Said Moonlight as he got up to leave.
“Yes Moonlight,” Said the group as they resumed post.  He headed the short trail to the meeting at Sun and Moon Rock.  Which was the location of The Order of Agelatina.  There was a meeting place right next to the clan’t nest.  Moonlight took his spot by the rock.  Also by the rock was the other leaders and deputies.  Firemight, Agonypaw, Sharpeye, Moonstar, Sunstar, and Shimmerheart.  On top of the rock were the leaders and deputies of The Order of Angelatina.  There were two leaders and two deputies.  Sunmoon, Moonsun, Shimmereye, and Goldentail.
“Firemight, leader of Shadowheart.  I ask you to begin the meeting with your news and updates.  I, Moonsun, give you permission.” Said Moonsun.
“Thank you Moonsun”  Said Firemight.  Firemight turned to the clans and started his announcements.  “Cats and rabbits of all clans.  We have two new apprentices and one new warrior for our clan.  Moonhigh gave birth to four lovely kits.  Their names are Shykit, Starkit, Lightkit, and Firekit.  We have had a two-leg enter out territory, and they have been trampling down plants.  I suggest we drive this nonsense out of our territory and attack at will!” The cats of Shadow heart Clan started to yowl in agreement.  OH NO! Moonlight gasped.  Was that Cari or Trudi?  The Order of Agelatina turned to Moonlight.
“Moonlight, we need to talk about a vision after the meeting.  Please send your clan back afterwards, you shall stay here for a while, while we discuss this.” Said Sunmoon with a glint in her eyes.  The order of Angelatine knew all about Moonlight’s Past.  And they were eager to know more, much more.

Chapter Five-  Trudi’s Expedition

Trudi buckled her boots and buttoned her jacket.  She looked out to the forest and walked out.  Her heart struggled to take what she might find out there.  Pairs of eyes watched her as she stepped over logs and puddles.  She saw a small nest in a bramble thicket.  She stepped over a log and brushed the leafs from her face.  “Moonlight?”  Said Trudi question.  Nothing answered except the chirping of birds and the leaves under her feet.  Suddenly a twig snapped and Trudi spun around.  There standing before her were five cats, each with their claws extended and unusual necklaces.  She glanced closer for a better look, she saw a berry.  The berry was bright red, the color of blood.  They all had the same “blood berries” around their necks.  They hissed and Trudi stepped backward.  “Don’t hurt me,” Said Trudi fearfully.  The cats advanced and suddenly, something jumped in front of them.  Something as pale as the moonlight that shaded the forest.  More appeared, and more until Trudi fell aimlessly backwards on a log.  Everything went pitch black.

Chapter Six-  Wilma Ann Sharman

“Cari, this is Wilma.”  Said James proudly.  “Wilma, this is my sister, Cari.”   “Pleased to meet you Wilma Jane.  Err..  I mean Wilma Ann Sharman.  Sorry ‘bout that!”  Said Cari.
“Oh that’s ok!  I heard you have a rabbit!  I have tons.  I eat them!  So are we going to have him/she tonight?”  Said Wilma Ann Sharman.  James, Josh, and Cari turned pale.  They all were thinking about moonlight.  Toby came out from the bathroom, apparently listening in on the conversation.
“I better go, really!” Said Toby quickly and started towards the door.
“Don‘t leave Toby!  I really want you here!” Said Cari as she winked at him.  Toby turned bright red and backed away from the door.
“Cari and Toby, sitting in a tree….” Mocked Josh.  “I remember my first girlfriend” Said Wilma Ann Sharman quietly.
“Girlfriend?” Said James.
“Oh..  No.  Boyfriend.  Sorry!” Said Wilma Ann Sharman.  Right than Patty and Matt walked down the stairs.  They were Josh’s, James’s, Cari’s, and Trudi’s parents!
“Children, where is…. TRUDI!” Shouted Patty.
“Oh no!” Whispered Toby.

Chapter Seven- Moonlight

“Moonlight, please come with us.”  Said Sunmoon quietly.
“Yes sir, but….  Why am I here?”  Said Moonlight.  The leaders sat down in a small cave lit by candles.  A pile of prey and water nestled the ground.
“Eat first Moonlight, help yourself.” Said Moonsun.  Moonlight picked up a vole from the pile and ate quickly.  As soon as he was done eating they started the meeting.
“Moonlight, do you remember you past?” Said Sunmoon.
“No, only being in the hands of the two legs.”  Said Moonlight.
“You aren’t an average rabbit, you have powers- like us”  Said Moonsun.
“WHAT!  How do you…” Said Moonlight.
“Decode this riddle we got.  It concerns the future of your life…  The shimmer of the moon will consume the walking two.  And when they wake, the point of peace shall be broken”  Said Sunmoon.  The meaning popped into Moonlight’s head.
“It means…  The dilemma of me being missing will consume all the thoughts of finding me by the two…  My old owners.  When they stop searching, and give up.  A war shall break out.” Said Moonlight quietly.
“Correct!”  Said Moonsun.  “We do not want a war.  You must prevent it.  Let this riddle help you Moonlight, for we do not even know what it means.”  Moonlight gasped and listened intently.  “Wanders in the lost, the ruler’s past ruler.  Until the lost is found the hearts of many will be broken.  When found, the truth must be reviled and the blue must drip water.  And the real cause will fight when tiger and hare will meet in battle.  And the wise must choose a path that you can’t turn or shape.”  Moonsun looked up, “help the blue.  And meet tiger in battle.  NOW GO!” Moonsun yelped and shoved Moonlight outside the cavern.  Moonlight narrowed his eyes, the blue was in trouble.  And he had to help.

Chapter Eight- LIES and Truths

“CARI!” Said Patty angrily.
“Yes mom.”  Said Cari weakly.
“YOU were suppose to watch Trudi, where is she?!” Said Patty again.
“Mom, she is just playing outside.”  Said Cari quietly.  Toby turned quite pale and looked at Cari with a dead stare.
“Cari, go find Trudi.  She needs to meet Wilma!” Said Matt.  Cari stood up and walked over to the front door.
“Toby will you go with me?”  Said Cari.
“Sure!”  Said Toby as he headed over to the door next to her.  They both got their shoes on and jackets buttoned and opened to the door.  Sitting on the doorstep, was one of Trudi’s boots.  But the other one was not there.   “Oh no,”  Whispered Toby.  They needed to hurry, and they stepped out into the dark with a grim look on their faces.

Chapter Nine-  WAR

Moonlight snarled at the other cats.  Who snarled back.
“Why are defending this two-leg?”  Snarled the leader of Shadowheart Clan, Firemight.  Moonlight looked down, dreading this moment.
“This two-leg was my past owner, I knew…..”
“YOU WERE ONCE A BUNNY-PET!  Ha!  You must not be loyal to this clan that.  To be protecting your old owner!  I knew you were messed up!  Let’s kill him!”  Said Firemight as he began to advance on Darksky Clan and Moonlight.
“Firemight, it isn’t because I am unloyal to the clan.  It is because I know this two-leg.  And the only reason she is here is to look for me.”  Said Moonlight quietly.  Everyone was silent, quiet as could be.  They watched as the little girl got up, her hands bleeding.  And tears dripping from her blue eyes.
“Moonlight,”  Said Trudi extending her arms to meet him.  Moonlight looked up at the girl, and he hopped on her lap.
“Moonlight, are you going to stay here or go with you two-legs- I mean owners.”  Said Lightheart.  Moonlight looked up at Lightheart.  He stood and did something he thought he would never say.
“I, Moonlight, leader of Darksky Clan, hereby decrown myself and step down from leader.  Thereby, I, Moonlight, give Lightheart to the stars as a leader of Darksky Clan.”  Moonlight said quietly.  “Tiger and hare shall meet in battle.”
Trudi gasped as she struggled to hear what they were saying, but it was impossible.  Suddenly, a twig snapped and The Order of Angleatina stepped out.
“Moonlight tell me what that riddle meant.”  Said Sunmoon.
“Ok…  Wanders in the lost, the ruler’s past ruler.  Until the lost is found the hearts of many will be broken.  When found, the truth must be reviled and the blue must drip water.  And the real cause will fight when tiger and hare will meet in battle.  And the wise must choose a path that you can’t turn or shape.  Lost in the woods, Moonlight’s old owner.  Until the two-legs find Moonlight, many people will be sad.  When Moonlight is found, Moonight must tell the clan what really happened in his past.  And Trudi will cry.  The real cause is, mercy, when cat and rabbit meet in battle.  Moonlight must choose a path that he can’t go back on.” Said Moonlight quickly.
“Moonlight, you shall return some day to join The Order of Angleatina.  But for now, you will be with this little girl who need a best friend.”  Said Sunmoon.  “Go Moonlight”

Chapter Ten-  Happy Ending

Trudi looked up.  No cats, no rabbits, only Moonlight and her.  She grinned.  Maybe this never happened?
“Come on Moonlight!”  Let’s go home.  Moonlight nodded and followed behind the girl that he loved.
They arrived home.  Happily skipping with Moonlight.  “Moonlight, I lost my boot trying to sneak away from Josh.  I can’t find it now.”  Said Trudi.  When they approached the front porch they saw Cari and Toby.  Toby was comforting Cari while she cried.  Toby looked up, and a smile crossed his face.
“Trudi, Moonlight, so glad you are back!” Said Toby.  Cari looked up and said the same.  She jumped up and hugged them both.  Trudi and Moonlight entered the house, where there were several “Thank goodness your backs.”  While Cari and Toby stayed outside.
“I better be getting home.”  Said Toby.
“Toby, no person could have done what you did.  You care about you so much!”  Said Cari quietly.
“It was nothing Cari!  I am six-teen.  No problem!”  Said Toby.  Cari looked up at Toby and gave him a quick kiss.
“Thanks Toby.”  Said Cari.  Toby said nothing, but had a face so red it looked a lot like a red chili pepper.  He walked away down the street.  And gave a goodbye signal with his hand.
Moonlight looked up at Trudi.  While she talked about what happened to her.  Giving up the group you love isn’t so bad when there is another person that needs a leader and a friend a lot more.  And when that person did need him anymore, he would join the life he wanted to live.  And help others in need.
