Description Don't Play Tricks On Me

“Waking up to these lovely sunny mornings brings joy to just about everyone!” Said Ella happily as she twirled around in her new dress. The dress followed her little figure in a perfect circle, my little sister looked like a princess, something she had always wanted to be. It had been a while since I had seen her last. My journey to Europe was still fresh in my mind, my life here, however, was not. She hadn’t changed much, her dark brown ringlets had turned into loose curls over the past years. She had gotten taller by at least three inches and her pale skin had not gotten a shade tanner. She was my beautiful little sister, my beautiful little sister permanently destroyed because a demon creature had cursed our whole bloodline. She had no choice but to accept what was given to her six years ago. When Hannah’s mom, dad, and brother died because they tried to run. When the demon Aazazel was banished of its body to curse its roots and make them do its will. Now I was back, pulled home by Aazazel to do who knows what. To kill or to steal, I would do what ever I was commanded. Not because I was forced, but because I was no longer in my body. And inside me I felt the small hunger for power, like a splinter. I simply wanted the power Aazazel had, I had no idea why, but I did.

I pulled my attention back to Ella as she continued to spin, completely unaware of my thoughts. I didn’t like to think that Ella had multiple personalities, but I had no idea. She looked so small and innocent, smiling like that. When she went into her rages she wasn’t the same person. My worst fear was that the rage would destroy Ella, and only Aazazel’s curse would be left. To inflict a four-year old with something of this measure you can only hope for the best. But, I hadn’t seen her in two years, she could have changed. Aazazel clearly had plans for me to bring me back just when Hannah returned. I feared for the worst simply because I was a pessimist. When Hannah left she was my friend, now I don’t know what she is anymore. Her memories are gone, but having me reminiscing on memories only I remembered did no good. I still couldn’t forget the goodbye kiss though….

“Ian, how was your trip?” Ella whispered, she seemed to be staring at a spot on the carpet. I smiled,

“Ella, it was great to get away. It’s beautiful there. I learned Italian, if you want me to teach you. I have so many stories, I felt so free!” I felt like I was preaching at that point, a wide smile on my face. But Ella remained motionless. Her hair covered her face, her expression hidden. I began to feel a cold sense of dread. “Ella?” I whispered, but I already knew the answer to my weak words.

“No.” Said Aazazel in Ellas voice, twisting it into the voice of a child possessed. “Just grandpa.” It smiled, making Ella’s face look distorted. “I don’t appreciate you running from me. We’re family, family sticks together.”

“You’re not my family,” I muttered. “You have nothing to offer but hell itself.” I said louder, gaining strength.

“Oh you know that isn’t true!” Screeched Aazazel. “I have power, Ian. I know you want it. I can sense it. You want to destroy-”

“DESTROY YOU!” I roared sending a book flying off the shelves and into a window, smashing it. Aazazel laughed and flicked Ella’s hand, repairing the window.

“I love your rage, both you and Ella have it. Except she hasn’t hurt anyone but you with it.. You, however, have hurt many.” I flinched. Memories always hurt so bad, I used all I could to restrain them, but, Aazazel wanted me to remember. If it wanted me to remember, than I would remember. I fell to the ground, writhing in pain. I watched as Ella straightened up and again and her eyes turned to fear as she ran to my side. But it was too late. Aazazel had began its favorite game, torturing me.

An immeasurable amount later I opened my eyes to see Ella sobbing on top of me. She saw me wake and wiped her eyes.

“I hate this!” She cried beating on my chest with her little fists. I winced, every inch of my stung like I had been hit. My mind was hurt more though, every torture idea it had, was used on me. It didn’t matter how bad I was hurt because I would always heal. I could never die, unless a miracle happened and Aazazel somehow wasn’t haunting its bloodline anymore. There wasn’t really a reason to dwell on it though, I couldn’t do anything about it. I pushed Ella off of me only to feel myself being pushed out of my body. Aazazel still wasn’t done.

“I have some business I need to take care of.” It murmured to me in my voice as he stood and walked out of the room. Ella was so shocked and just sat there, like she had been stabbed.

“Ian?” She whispered quickly. I could do nothing really but act as a ghost would, knocking things over and scaring the crap out of people. I leaned over in front of her face and blew on her hair, I than stood and walked out of the room. I would be without a body for an hour or two. I had no idea what its business was and didn’t plan to find out. I somewhat floated outside our mansion and went along the empty streets toward Hannah’s new house. Eventually I got there, feeling awkward from the fact I was only a ghost wandering Sulver. I went right in the small house and to the hall. I heard a quiet humming from the room on the left, and etered it. A small room, lacking a closet, it had white walls and two windows with each pouring in sunlight. In the corner of the room lay Hannah on her bed, where I had left her. She was awake now, humming some slow tune looking ath the ceiling. I stood, well, floated, in the doorframe unseen. I went forward to her bed and stopped at the foot of it. She stopped humming and whispered,

“How do they know me?” She rolled onto her side and continued talking to herself. “A sunset without demons? Best friends? Ian?” I flinched at the sound of my name and unconsciously made a candle go out. Perfect, I thought angrily. Now why would someone light a conadle in the morning? Hannah had celaly noticed the candle and whispered my name again. I decided to scare her because she threw my jacket on the ground, and, so I made a book fall from her nighttand. She yelped and curled into a ball on twin bed. Laughing I didn’t even realize I had been pulled back to my own body.

Ella sat across from me, her eyes red-rimmed and a fading cut on her left wrist.

“Where were you!” She shouted, jumping up from the study’s floor. “I thought you were back when you came back in the study, it was acting just like you! It was frightening! Than it cut me with a knife!” She said angrily, holding up a bloodstained knife. Her wound was gone now, but her temper flared.

“I was just playing a trick-”

“YOU WERE PLAYING A TRICK ON ME!” Ella screamed grabbing a book from the large desk behind her and flinging at me. I hisse dand flicked my hand, chaing it into a whip and grabbing it. I jumped up to crack the whip at her but she had picked up the knife she had shown me earlier and hurtled it into my side. I cursed and fell to my knees, clutching my side as I muttered a string a vulgar words. Ella stopped her rage and waved her arms frantically, sending things flying about the room.

“That’s not going to help anything Ella!” I yelled angrily. The pain seared, the blood rushing to the wound to clot it. I felt I slight pull in my mind to hurt Ella but ignored it, something  I rarely did a few years ago. A second later the pain was gone and the wound healed, nothing but my bloodstained clothes gave evidence I had ever been hurt. I ran out of the room with Ella at my heals while she sobbed hysterically. I turned to run up the stairs and fell when I heard the doorbell ring. Ella and I both turned, motionless as we stared at the door. We slowly turned to look at each other.

“Who is it?” I whispered as the door bell rang again. Ella shrugged her shoulders and stood up. I followed her quietly.

“Where is Mike?” Ella said angrily. Mike was our housekeeper along with our garderner, chef, and maid. We didn’t have parents really, so, we had these people. But they are family in more ways than one. “Go away Ian.” Said Ella quickly, breaking my train of thought. “It would be frightening for a common person to see you dripping blood.” She said in a widely sarcastic voice as she put her hand on the knob. I grinned, glancing at my shirt and went up the ornate staircase on the left. I walked to the third door and went inside just as the door opened and I heard the mailman’s routine “Here’s your mail” act.
