Although the 4th gen Pokémon games have received their fair share of criticism, but for me, the 4th gen has been a great 'expansion pack' of sorts for the franchise.I'll always remember it as the generation which had a few great original Pokémon (Infernape, Drifblim, Garchomp etc.), some not-so-great original Pokémon (Mothim, Kricketune...), an overload of legendaries and most importantly, a whole slew of evolutions of obscure Pokémon from previous generations. In retrospect, it was a clever strategy to improvise on currently existing Pokémon rather than developing new mediocre ones.
This pic features some of my favourites from the gen, plus some which I've been meaning to draw for some time.
Now that this pic is out of my system (it's been on my comp for quite a while now), I'm gladly looking forward to the 5th gen!

I must agree with you: I have never complained about the newer Pokemon, but in light of all the criticism, I have come to consider the fourth generation of Pokemon as neither the best nor the worst, but certainly the most comprehensive generation.

This just makes me think back to the hours played on these games. It's a shame they received so much criticism because Yanma is prob my favourite pokemon with a great evolution like Yanmega and even Lickilicky is just deep down awesome. Although Generation 2 + HG and SS are my favourites, this generation kicked so much more butt than 3! Thanks for the pic and bring on 5th Gen!

It's strange, for me generation four has almost only flaws, but that's maybe because I didn't played that much the games. It have great Pokémons though and some cool ideas but yeah you are so right, too much legendaries!
It's really superb. I adore the lineart and the view is wonderful!

This is an amazing work. I love the bright colors. Fourth gen is my favourite gen and this is a great tribute to it. I especially like how this picture shows many under-appreciated pokemon. Great work!

I love Drifblim! I instantly fell in love with it when I first saw it and was so happy there was a ghost-flying type that could learn fly. But i think Drfblim could've used a slight power boost. It wasn't the easiest pokemon to raise and use on the elite four..

As much as I like Drifblim, I couldn't bring myself to use it in the game. It's torture to see Pokemon with absurdly high HP (blissey, Wailord, Drifblim) in battle as their HP sloooowly drops...

Yeah it's high HP didn't really matter since its defenses are so weak :/ I still love my Blimpy though...

i have to agree with you there. i enjoy all of the evolutions they gave to some of the older gen pokemon. i hope they at least continue, if only a small bit, with that trend in the new gen, even if they say older gen pokemon wont be capturable until you have the national dex.
i love the dynamicness in this! the scene has such an awesome shape to it! i love the lighting/shading as well

Well, we now have Luvdisc's evo and the rumored evo for Tauros, so it looks like the trend will continue somewhat. I just hope they don't go overboard and provide evos for every single Pokemon. It'll ruin the coolness of being an unevolved Pokemon (even though it's useless, like Farfetch'd)

I'll say this for you; 4th Gen being overly crapped with legendaries and nonsense or not, your art glorifies it and makes me want to play Platinum more.

I can never figure out why DP had such a limited National Pokedex. Platinum's extended Pokedex and its Battle Frontier facility made the 4th gen seem worthwhile

I gather from this that Sinnoh is your favourite region? Then which is your favoured Pokémon?

I'm not the type to have a particular favourite in terms of region or Pokemon. I think Sinnoh has its own draws - I especially liked the snow path and Snowpoint City as well as the Battle Frontier.
As for Pokemon, I'm a little bit more bias towards Ghost types, but that's about it.

Love it. Some of my favs in there as well (Magnezone, Yanmega). Kinda sad it doesn't have Empoleon or Glaceon though, my favorite 4th gen pokes. Also, normally I'd not even remember Lumineon but its cry in the game is so elegant.

I wanted to avoid drawing the more 'popular' Pokemon, so I left out the starters, legendaries and Eeveelutions on purpose in this pic. (Floatzel was the exception 
Lumineon is seems to be an obscure favourite among fans. It's a pity it didn't have better stats to back up its cool design...

Super dramatic! I think of 4th gen as overall not one of the best, but when I look closer I have a lot of favorites in it too. XD It was a polarized gen I guess; you either love or hate the Pokemon. Magnezone and Yanmega are my favorites of the gen, and I love how you made them look all epic at the top there. That Hippopotas is adorable and I feel sorry for poor Lickilicky being piled up on :c

Yep, 4th generation really did seem like that XD I'm just glad 5th generation, despite being a bit rocky with quite a few designs, has some standard pokemon that are still appealing. It's half and half, but it doesn't feel like a repeat of 3rd generation at least...
Still, designs like a broccoli monkey have me worried now and again ._.;
