Woah, the image fidelity was so good that I initially thought this was full 24bit color APNG rather than a GIF!
Is there something special you do to minimize/eliminate dithering and/or color banding artifacts?

I max the gif settings in Photoshop usually. No real secrets

Hmmm...well if you ever need/want greater color bit depth, then animated PNG is always an option.
...though last I checked, photoshop doesn't support it (which is annoying considering that stickers in iMessage are animated PNGs)
