When the Pennsylvania Railroad competed with the reading with their 4-4-2s, the first few had a Woopaire firebox to burn the anthracite. They were eventually sold to the LI.Related content

These are probably my favorite out of the PRR Atlantics. My first experience with them was with the 7002 at Strasburg, PA. I want to say I had the privilege of riding behind this engine on one visits to Strasburg in my early days. (While I was still in my single digits)

I know for a fact I've ridden behind the 1223, another one of my favorites there. And although those moments left profound memories in my mind, they are still somewhat vague.

I certainly hope so. I think there's one at Greenfield Village that has an Atlantic under restoration, tough I don't know if its a full restoration or just cosmetic.
