Description Last year I was bitten by the brass bug, and not long after that, the B&LE virus infected me. And so I had to have a Bessemer 2-10-4. But to acquire such a beast, I had to cheat a little. You see, finding a B&LE steam locomotive is rather difficult, even if you look on sites specifically set up for brass. The B&LE is somewhat obscure, and so when a B&LE engine does go up for sale, it is very quickly snagged by those dedicated hobbyists, who check the brass sites daily.

I however, not having the time, or patience to scour the entirety of the internet, decided to take a different approach. When the Bessemer and Lake Erie dieselized in the 50's, their handsome 2-10-4s were still somewhat young, and nowhere near worn out. So, they sent 18 of these hefty haulers to the DM&IR. Other than the paint, nothing was changed on the locomotives. So i searched for a DM&IR 2-10-4 and was met with several options in regards to a 2-10-4. Perhaps it does not say Bessemer on the box, but it does in my heart.

SO! To make a long story short, my collection is one GIANT locomotive bigger. All it needs now is to be painted.

Say hello to the future Bessemer and Lake Erie 620.
