Description
Remember those photos that I posted a few months ago of this engine in the shop? Well, after many hours of work, we see it under steam again.Related content

The Shay that they have at spencer is said to be getting ready for restoration. Some guy is writing a book about it and then planning on selling it and then, I believe, the proceeds will go to Spencer to help pay for her restoration. Also know what took her out of service which was aΒ broken gear tooth and the water treatment was eating up her boiler so I've been told. Wish one of the Southern's 4 truck shays had survived too.Β Β

Let's see, the Durbin Climax is a #3, the Mt. Rainier Climax is a Class C, the Cass Climax (when it's finally operational) is a Class C... Clark's Trading Post #6? It looks a hell of a lot less gaudy in black and white, evidently. Or did they give it a cleaner, more realistic paint scheme?

Well, it has blue for a boiler jacket, black sand and steam domes with brass rings on them, brass rings on the cylinders, , brass rings surrounding the boiler, and brass railings that go parallel to the running boards. This is a Class B 2 truck Climax and he last in New England. Probably the best running of the fleet of Climax's. Just got a new crankshaft and 2 new gears along with a new boiler in 2005. I'll post a picture in color for ya.

I'm not sure I wanna see that in color. Yikes. Gimme classic black with red or white trim, like the Class B in Durbin, WV or the Class C in Mt. Rainier, WA.
