That's quite amazing for such a car I have a Mazda MX-3 1.8 V6, and it goes only up to 210 . . I'm pretty sure it has a limiter tho

Oooo, that certain V6 was engineered to sound something like the Jaguar 3.8l I6 from the XK-E to match the looks of the car.

xXJohnnnYXx In reply to bousozoku [2011-07-18 07:37:34 +0000 UTC]

.. just looked up that sound on YT; it actually sounds quite similar how did you know ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bousozoku In reply to xXJohnnnYXx [2011-07-18 07:54:43 +0000 UTC]

I remembered because the Jaguar XK-E is one of my favourite cars of all time and Mazda is a favourite company of mine. The Mazda engineers went to a lot of trouble to duplicate the sound and it was mentioned a few times, though few took it seriously.

Mazda are more an engineering company than a car company, though they obviously have to make money selling cars.

When I was visiting Hiroshima (near my birth place), I was staying with a friend whose father worked for the company. He would be partly responsible for starting a factory in the U.S.A. to build vehicles along with Ford.

It's amazing that the company exists at all, given the atomic bomb dropped on the city during World War 2.

Gotta say I don't know much about the company's history.. so you're Japanese then ? Did you move to the US ?

I am Japanese, and it's a little complicated but I moved to the U.S.A. when I was adopted a long time ago. I've never been west of Japan or east of the Atlantic Ocean.

As a huge car enthusiast, I'd move back to Japan as soon as possible but I'm sure you have your reasons to stay in the US . . just sayin'

bousozoku In reply to xXJohnnnYXx [2011-07-18 18:52:40 +0000 UTC]

Hey, I've lost weight. I'm not that huge.

Japan is really not a great place for cars. If I was there, I wouldn't even have a car and would probably never be in one.

It's really expensive to live there. After my adoptive mother dies, I may return to Asia but more likely Malaysia, where it's inexpensive to live. I'd consider Europe but the cold and lack of Asian supplies would bother me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xXJohnnnYXx In reply to bousozoku [2011-07-18 22:24:40 +0000 UTC]

I'm not saying that you are

.. it's not ? I mean, from what I hear it really is the place to go if you're a big car enthusiast . . I mean; all the culture, the racing event, the many tracks.. mostly because of the culture.

What do you mean by Asian supplies ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bousozoku In reply to xXJohnnnYXx [2011-07-18 22:29:49 +0000 UTC]

Japan is crowded and many of the streets are the same as they were 600 years ago--narrow. Taxes on your car would differ by its width.

Sure, there are some groups and there is racing, but the majority of the people can't prove any need for a car and it's probably faster to walk across Tokyo than to drive.

I mean food and books and magazines and ink brushes, housewares, etc.

Guess I'd have to see it with my own eyes ..

naaaah . . I think Europe has just enough of that I mean sure the amounts aren't that big but we ain't short of them either

i think its part of a thing if heard in the industrial history lecture..
toyota has a rule that every employee is responsible for his work.. i think that is the reason for the good quality..
