I wonder if in this timeline some ponies got the demented idea to released Discord into the world thinking he'd be their 'salvation' from Luna's unbending uncompromising order.
I doubt Luna could have or would have smashed his statue, since I think Discord is the one being in creation Celestia would have no hesitation in killing if it was possible.
