I kidnapped that quote from The Prestige, sue me.This was a quick, colour job I did for an old sketch concept in that more realistic style I was going for. Tried shading with red this time. Background fails. Lox really does have a big head.
Did this while I was waiting for the issues in BS to resolve. Didn't want to continue until it's fixed because I'd hate to have wasted my time if the competition is cancelled.
I think people there should understand that I, and I'm sure many others, worked HOURS colouring, scripting and drawing their comics, and others, drafting, checking and re-reading their written entries.
Way to go, you jerks.

The shading looks really cool, and I like how you can faintly see the image repeated in the background (IT WOULD BE EASIER WITHOUT THIS NEW FORMAT MAKING THE ADS CUT OFF PART OF THE PICTURE!!
I have to say, he has one LARGE head XD I know you were practicing with anatomy, so if you wanted to you could try shrinking it a little, because it looks a bit too big..
XD It amuses me that everything looks so realistic and stuff, and then when you take a real close look at his mouth, you can see a more cartoony appearance there XD

That trick I stole from a lot of anime artists, Bleedman, etc xD Fills up space, and I wanted to try that out anyway. Kinda lazy if you ask me P:

The picture looks amazing! I love this stile, it's much more... selected, plastic.
The shading and lighting in and around the eyes looks really cool, and the neck is simply awesome. *__*
I haven't seen too many pics in this style from you, but it still shows some aspects from your other cartoonish style, like the taller foreheads and the more tunic-like (dress sounds too girlish) uniforms. I hope to see more pics like this one from you.

It is different yes, probably there aren't many similar factors at all. But seeing your own style really made me come out of the dark and try this sort of thing, so I thank you for that courage!

Yeah, that's an interesting point, the heads tend to stay quite to IZ, the other style. I'm trying to move on from it, so I no longer lean on Vasquez's style

I do draw realistically more often though, it just doesn't show. Easier to finish are cartoon than make something look effective realistically. They're all just sketches.

Does it look like I'm being harsh? =/ We've all been sitting and waiting for days hoping they'll resolve officially, or just plain forgive and forget. This competition is pretty much being postponed, since not too many are actually continuing with the comic until the word is back that it's back to normal. It just holds off the comp for much to longer, not to mention is wasting a lot of time.

Yeah, I read their journal too. They DO seem like they're no longer in anger or spite of each other, but seeing their still split, just says to me their still against each other. Really, two competitions is just not right.
