Description
I'll leave this scene open for interpretation. Leave your thoughts and any feedback in the comments!Β I used a procedurally-generated heightmap to create the shape of the landscape, and then made small changes and added the materials. Made using blender, rendered with cycles.

Β Here is your critique.
Overview - We have a pixel landscape. It is a mountainous region with single trees throughout the landscape. We also have a lake. I chose to critique this because It is a nice pixelated landscape and I haven't quite seen something like this before.
Sky - It is well done. The clouds are very well done. And you have put a lot of work into them. We have a clear day with only a few clouds. I like it. Β
Lake - you have done a great depiction of a lake. Β You can see highlights and shading. Β I really like the lake. It seems to be moving like a river although it is cut off by the mountains.
Trees - They are well done and I see that you have put a lot of wort into them.
Rocky Mountains - They are well done. I have been out in the wilderness all my life. Β Grass doesn't only grow on the top of mountains. It is all over the mountain. Β That is my expert opinion.
Conclusion - You have done an excellent job on this picture. Β I look forward to seeing more from you. It has been a pleasure critiquing you.

Thank you. One thing I would like to point out is that these aren't mountains but cliffs, bare stone at a close-to-vertical angle, and it is usual for cliffs to not have grass growing on them unless they are in a moist region and then they may have moss. But thanks very much for the critique.

Oh my gosh I LOVE this!! The style feels very impressionistic, plus it's clean and pleasing to look at.Β
Out of curiosity, why are there black stripes on the tiny trees?

Sorry for taking so long to answer, I haven't been on DeviantART in a while. The stripes are meant to serve as simplistic representations of the dark spots that are characteristic of birch trees. And thank you very much!

Welcome back, friend
Oh ok, that actually makes perfect sense! You still get the dark spots and you get a unique look. I like it

Sorry for not answering for a long time. I modelled this in a 3D program called Blender.

The Simplicity and shapes of the scene look great, seems like something that belongs in Totally Accurate Battle Simulator! Β Β Β Β

I've never thought of using anything like a height-map before. Looks real good!
