Description (Another Subject, finally finished. This one was created using the prompt "Robot." Bit of a bloody one this time, folks!)

BA-XX89

This anomaly was obtained in China, after it was encountered by a group of off-trail hikers in the area of Mount Jiuhua.  Initial attempts at containment proved difficult, in part due to the terrain, but also due to the entity receiving sufficient damage during the process to activate its Repair state. It is to be kept in a 5x5m sealed containment cell, equipped with an externally housed ventilation system capable of inducing a vacuum within the chamber. This vacuum is to be maintained whenever the entity is not undergoing testing (see additional Notes). Should this anomaly be in an Active state, it is to be strictly monitored at all times, and any damage to its structure must be reported immediately. A small collection of goats, sheep, or other live animals are to be housed on-site and within easy access to site staff, to be used in the event that the entity enters a Repair state.

Its physical structure is entirely composed of organic material, with tests showing genetic markers belonging to a number of different animal species. Despite being organic in nature, it appears more mechanical in its configuration. Hard surfaces and materials, such as its core framework and external plating, have been identified as being primarily constructed of bone and keratin, while connective and sensory structures are composed of tendon, cartilage, and various tissues. Fluids are regularly circulated throughout the body, both to transport energy to living cells, and to power hydraulic components. A highly complex structure of both hard and soft actuators, in combination with a sophisticated sensory system, allows for quick reaction times and a high degree of mobility. Additionally, it is much more durable than its appearance might suggest, with a high structural density. Carbon fibers are found interwoven throughout all component materials, with additional silicates and metal ions identified in hard structures.

The living cells within XX89 must be regularly maintained, and while it is capable of limited autotrophic functions - gaining a small amount of energy from chemosynthesis via forms of respiratory and liquid filtration systems - its primary method of restoring cell material is to harvest it from outside sources. The exact means by which it assimilates this material into its structure is still poorly understood, but it has been observed that any acquisition will conform to and be incorporated with its existing components. This process may take anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes, depending on the mass being incorporated. In its typical Active state, provided environmental conditions are favorable, such minor restorations will require between .5 to 2.5 kilograms of animal matter per month. Should it sustain sufficient damage or cell degradation, however, it will immediately enter a highly aggressive state, and attempt to acquire new material from the nearest identifiable source. It has been observed to function with as little as 20% full mass, with its core framework being especially durable. During such a Repair state, communication is impossible, and the use of force is strongly urged against, as any additional damage will prolong this hostile phase. It has been found that it will accept any sufficient live animal matter with which to self-repair.

It has proven highly resilient, capable of functioning in temperatures ranging from 80°C to -12°C, and in areas of high radiation or toxicity. However, it's self-repair requirements will notably increase in such conditions. Should the environment become too hostile, or insufficient material be readily available within a 10km distance, it will enter a state of cryptobiosis, referred to as a Dormant state. During this time, all activity ceases until conditions improve, or if sufficient degradation occurs to trigger an emergency Repair state.

XX89 is fully sentient, capable of understanding and speaking a number of different languages, including traditional Chinese, Hindi, Russian, and Hebrew. Vocal intonations are created using a complex structure similar to a voice coil speaker, situated just behind the lower facial plate. It is noted as being particularly eloquent, if archaic, in its speech patterns, and it has been mostly cooperative during interviews. However, it has so far refused to elaborate on its origins or age, beyond a single mention of what it referred to as “the Forge” during its initial interview. Further attempts to approach the topic have been unsuccessful.

Notes:
Following Incident B-440-13, XX89 is to be relocated, and its containment procedures updated. It is to be maintained in a Dormant state when not undergoing active tests or interviews. It is to have its air cycled for 2 hours, and be allowed up to 5kg of living animal matter (delivered to its cell) once per month, should no tests be scheduled before such a time has passed.
