Lovely colours and textures to this, I'd be inclined to try a bit of this myself but we've got to wait months before the weather in the UK moves above grim and we get see the sun again... 
Getting the exposure right so you'd get light rays and have all the detail you captured in both the light and dark parts must have been a minor nightmare too

Great contrast.
I think light may be the winner, though not necesserily through the natural form. Darkness may eventually consume it but street lamps and other forms of light pollution will over come the darkness until morning, and by then the natural light will have taken over... but then there are the shadows and... oh, i'm just confusing myself! x) This pictures really made me think...
