Description
The sun rises. A beautiful image in time as it peers between the Twin Spires. However the beauty is fleeting...as the reality of the harshness of the desert sets in...a dry, choking place. The duality is striking in the contrast between the beauty we see...and the harshness of the reality.Resubmitting for prints and because I had to re-render the whole dang thing. Thanks for the suggestion, Stijn. You were soooo right!
I re-rendered my Twin Spires Daybreak image, although I had to do it from scratch.
Terragen render.
Rendersize: 6000x4500 pixels.
Rendertime: 7.5 hours
Terrain: El Mocambo II by ~hillrunner
Thanks and enjoy!

Nice work Mike! I'm impressed how close you got this to the original. I have to say, I think I prefered the lighter blue of the sky. . .but other than that, this is a great improvement. Excellent light, and the detail from the high res is fantastic!

Thank you!!
Well, as the description says I got this terrain from someone else. It was made in mojoworld and exported to terragen. I usually make my terrains in World Machine. I highly recommend it.

thanks alot, is related to 3d images right?¿ il try to get it asap!!

Yes...it's for 3D images. World machine makes terrains that are then used in terragen. Terragen is the rendering application I use for these images. World machine just makes the terrain file (although you can also make terrain files in terragen...I just don't like to). I hope this helps!

I wish the strata was broken up more on the spires, they really stand out in the image.... because they simply don't look as good as the rest of it.

hey wow thats some amazing work
amazing detail in the terrain and textures too.
i always wondered if the terrain files were done in
terragen or photoshop. or both??? how exactly do
you make your terrains if you dont mind me asking?

environaut In reply to CaptoAmazo [2006-09-08 23:02:39 +0000 UTC]
Hey, thanks a lot!
I usually make my terrains in World Machine...sometimes terraformer and sometimes geocontrol. I also use DEM's (digital elevation models) such as Mt. St. Helens or various regions on Mars. I don't care for the terrains terragen makes and very rarely use photoshop for terrains unless it's an image I'm converting to a terrain. Sometimes I also use ones I downloaded from other sites...like the one I used here was made by ~hillrunner from the program mojoworld.

Awesome man, just awesome. I'm not sure though whether I was the only one who suggested it. I believe Sacha suggested using this one as well. But thanks man. Looks better bigger. This will definitely be a hit, or should be
Going into my favs of course

Thanks, Stijn! Well, I know you're the one that insisted I include it now matter how much postwork fixing it would take. I am so glad I did! I think this is my personal favorite of all my desert renders. Thanks again, bud!

environaut In reply to battlefield1010 [2006-09-08 17:12:20 +0000 UTC]
Hey, thanks man!! Well, I'm using about 3 texture overlays, 1 strata overlay, and probably 15 regular surface maps in this one. It just takes a lot of trial and error...believe me! Keep at it! You'll get there.
