Description Shot this at a tattoo exhibition yesterday, during the Rainforest World Music Festival, at Santubong. This gentleman is getting a traditional hand-tapping tattoo (most of which originates from most parts of Borneo and Kalimantan). This is from another angle.

That guy's got some serious stones to go about it that way. I thought gun-style tattooing hurt enough, thank you very much!

it's actually very hypnotizing when u go through it. 1 of my friends got a traditional tat done with that same technique n he told me that he felt hypnotized n at ease after the pain recedes, even during the process.

I attempted this myself, on myself, using modern needles and a steel shafts. This is one of the most painful ways, that I have ever experienced, to receive a tattoo. The second most painful, I have found, is using a blade, or sharpened chisel, to carve into the flesh and then coat the area with ink. I would not recommend either technique if you have a low pain threshold. 8)
