Description this is part of the wildebeest migration from serengeti into the mara. we were in the middle of this for several hours. photos can't really do it justice. if you've ever been in a cattle drive u might have some idea. we went out to see them cross the mara river but sadly they decided to nap first and didn't cross til much later in the day. maybe it was all the people there gawking at them

masai mara, kenya

Love this, nice shot. I really want to see The Great Migration, such a spectacle to behold, and the amount of wildebeest who travel in that herd is remarkable, not including the zebras and other ungulates.

I love this photo, and see the zebras along with the herd. I'm very sure this photo only catches a glimpse of what this was like. I've been around cattle drives and atmosphere is very much a part of it.

yes it is like that. except for the smell. it's odd but i didn't notice the smell at all and there were thousands of them

I'd say they're calmer while migrating than cattle are while being forced to move.
I'm sure you know what I mean.

sad that most of the great palearctic and holoarctic migrations were destroyed, only caribou in america and mongolian gazelle in central asia remain

it is very sad. it was an amazing experience being there. at the same time i couldn't help feeling like we shouldn't be bothering them. i suppose if they weren't a tourist attraction they might have been displaced years ago. either way it was a great privilege to witness it and i sincerely hope they have this freedom for hundreds of years to come. thx for yr comment

yes, i signed this petition. it's hard to balance the needs of local people with animal rights. i hope it works out

they started coming from every direction. i panned 360 and we were completely surrounded. there were thousands upon thousands but oddly you're never afraid
