You know I don't understand why people are complaining about that. So, he's not wearing underwear on the outside. Big deal. It shows people will complain about anything when there is nothing to complain about. That and they don't like change.

I think what gets me is that Superman's the ONLY one they whine about when it comes to the panties being nixed from the costume. Anybody else does it? No complaints. Superman does it? The torches and pitchforks come out. Which makes zero sense, as comic book pros and pop culture commentators alike have said for years that the panties were outdated and needed to go. You'd think this is just common sense. It's the one aspect of the costume that hasn't aged well, so losing it was inevitable.
The really sick part is, many of the people crying about losing the panties have and still are championing drastic, radical costume changes like the proposed Tim Burton redesigns for SUPERMAN RETURNS. Given the choice between a small change that doesn't derail Superman's overall look and major changes that make him unrecognizable, they honestly believe the major changes are less insulting and disrespectful. I'd love to know how they come by this logic, or lack thereof.
