Description

After his encounter with Bert, the Science bean, Ryker was a little hesitant to meet with Quest. However, he was conflicted in that inhibition; apparently, Quest had travelled all across Griffia and created the map that was used to this day. While that was exciting in its own right, Ryker was very eager to find out why Quest had insisted on meeting at nightfall. Exploration and life experience struck a cord in Ryker.

"Little fornpea!" Quest exclaimed, grasping the much larger Ryker in an exuberant hug. He barely made it to Ryker's shoulders. "Your kind is so elusive! I am so glad you're here!"

Ryker petted the smaller bean on the back, his large paws engulfing the beans entire back. Already, he was much more at ease with this one as opposed to Bert. "Quest, to what occasion are we meeting at night?"

Quest bounced in excitement. Ryker liked him already; a bean after his own adventurous heart. "Does there need to be one? Night time is one of the most exciting times to explore! Nothing can be predicted! Come on, little fornpea - sorry, Ryker - let us begin our exploration!"

For the most part, the night was uneventful. The weather was calm, and the wildlife were not to be seen. To make up for this, Quest regaled Ryker with old adventures. This included lots of interruptions by the bean himself when a particular plant or landmark made itself known, Quest excitedly going off on a tangent and forgetting the original topic. He kept Ryker well on his feet.

Suddenly, the night sky lit up in a spectacular show of light. The stars, seemingly a lot brighter, beamed down on the two explorers. "Look!" Quest exclaimed, pointing up to the twinkling night sky. A star much bigger and much brighter than the others shot across the sky with incredible speed. Ryker was transfixed with awe. While Ryker had spent many a-night wandering the land, he had never experienced this. A shooting star!

"What luck!" Quest was uncontrollably giddy, barely able to keep his feet rooted to the ground. "A shooting star! Or a comet! We will have to ask Bert which one."

Ryker was still looking at the trail of stardust left behind. "Does it matter what kind? That was amazing! Is this the kind of stuff you experience every day?"

"Not like this," Quest beamed. "Not with a new friend."
