Yep. They made a movie (a horror movie, ironically) there I think 1 year ago and renovated parts of the building. Its still quite silent-hill like there..

I like the shot, particularly the reflected light and shadow on the walls. But what is that place? I mean what is (or was) the building used for...?

Thanks again! Beelitz Heilstätten has quite a history in Brandenburg (the county around Berlin). It was (from 1898 until 1994) one of the biggest hospitals in Germany and survived WWII. Besides that it was the biggest hospital for the russish and soviet army in Germany. What's interesting is that Beelitz Heilstätten was once veeery big itself.. I think around 200 hectare? Today most of the ground has been sold and is, after years of decay, renovated and rebuilt (unfortunately not as a hospital, but as condominiums / flats).
I always wanted to do some urban exploration in there, because it was quite famous for photographers do go there -but difficult as well [its forbidden without a local Tourguide. Fortunately I found a very last tour!].

I thinks it's interesting that you think it is haunting, because this photo was taken in a newly renovated part of the asylum (they made a horror movie there, who would have guessed) which was not as disturbing as the rest of the hospital
