The girl let tears run down her face as she clutched the hand of her deceased lover. She leaned over his body and whispered sweet nothings into his ear.
“Please… please come back. You are supposed to be strong.”
The body on the ground didn’t move.
“Goddammit, why’d you do this? How could you throw yourself into danger for me? I was meant to die.”
She sobbed harder into his toned chest, her grip on his hand growing tighter yet he didn’t return it.
The girl looked up for a moment, eyeing the battlefield before her. Smoking Titans lay scattered about, the blood of her comrades seeped into the ground, including his. He died saving her and slaughtering all of the beasts that ripped the life from his body. A right that was not theirs.
She brushed the hair from his face and looked into his eyes. The eyes didn’t move, they only stared into oblivion and shone brightly with emotion that almost died away.
“I love you… if you love me you’ll come back to me…” The girl knew he wouldn’t.
He had saved her from certain death but he took it for himself instead.
He watched her body fall to the ground, and it slammed down with brutal force. The massive titan moved its hand toward where she was sprawled on the bloody ground. White rage washed over him and took over his actions. He used whatever gas he had left to make his way to the Titan and sliced it to a million pieces.
His eyes were clouded with rage as he continued to slice the titan that almost killed you.
This one titan wasn’t enough. He needed to protect you no matter what. With very little gas remaining, he killed every titan on the battlefield. All except one.
A titan stood from where he thought he had killed it. He fell to the ground as he ran out of gas and she watched her lover scream at the Titan and sliced its ankles with his blades. The titan fell to the ground and he pierced the deadly spot on its neck.
In one final blow, the Titan knocked him off and he hit a tree. He fell to the ground and didn’t get back up.
“Hallefuckinglujah.” He sighed, and did not breathe again.
“You aren’t supposed to die. I am. What about all you ever did for humanity?”
A light, gentle breeze swept through his hair. It covered his eyes and she moved to brush it away when she froze. She saw something in his jacket pocket. It was a little box.
She pulled it out and sobbed even harder. Opening it, the breeze blew harder this time, and inside she saw a little gold ring with a large diamond. On the top inside lid, she saw a note scribbled in his handwriting.
‘Don’t back down. You love her. You can do it. She might be your one true brat.’
The girl covered her mouth with one hand and sobbed into it. He would have proposed to her.
She took the ring from the box and slipped it on.
“Yes, I will. I will marry you, Levi Ackerman.”
She almost felt as if the breeze caressed her.
