Description From a recent session - we'd hoped to work with the sunset over water, but the angle of the location didn't give us that, so we did the best we could.

what a beautiful image eric...the lighting...the composition...the pose...and the wide angle you chose all make for a fantastic photo! congrats on this one.

Thank you for your compliment and feedback - it is personally gratifying when an image uses gear that cost good money, and in this case, between the camera and the lens, it was the most expensive equipment I have, which means it was a good investment, as the image couldn't have been made (as easily) without them! Glad you enjoyed viewing the image!

this is incredible! the angle, the light...everything looks like it goes forever. there are some great shapes in this shot, too.

Well you did a pretty good job! What a great rock you have found there..is it a long way down for the model or is that another illusion courtesy of your lens? anyway I love it, and I reckon the light has worked for you really well here...

Thanks for your feedback (sick of hearing that yet?) - this I have decided is my strongest image of the year (it is a slow year, with maybe 1/3 of my normal volume of images, so making something this strong is quite pleasing).

The perspective is totally a result of the lens - while the rock was massive (3m or so tall) it wasn't very far to the ground - perhaps 50cm from her foot to the ground...we did some other images after this with her standing on the top - very statuesque and striking, but this one takes the cake, so to speak (and having been made with my most expensive camera and lens, makes me feel like the expense was worth it!).

As always it is your hand directing the tool and that alone justifies the expense.

Yup, you quite right...and as to your request for a page on my site about the T/S lens, I made an image today which really well illustrates the difference...

My, I am the demanding one, aren't I? I'll look forward to reading it and I can proof it before you put it up if you like.

Thank you for the compliment, I am glad you enjoyed viewing the image - as for the "dangerous position" it wasn't at all, that is just a side-effect of the extremely wide angle lens.

Thank you for your feedback and compliment, I am glad you enjoyed viewing the image. The pose wasn't dangerous, as the look comes more from the lens than the setting.

Is she as high off the ground as she appears to be?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ericbb In reply to Dravazed [2009-07-22 13:43:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, I had to help her up by letting her stand on my knee, but she easily jumped down when the image was done...the rock is perhaps 3m high .

Dravazed In reply to ericbb [2009-07-22 17:30:41 +0000 UTC]

I'm relieved to hear that! To my uninformed eye, it looked much higher...so I was inwardly cringing at the thought of the risk she (actually wasn't) taking. Certainly a striking picture!
