Wow... I think my 10D at ISO 200 leaves more noise than that...
Are you happy with your 5D Mark II?

I am very pleased with it...the image quality with a good lens (the 85mm f/1.2 for example) is excellent, it has low noise, and while the AF is slower than the D300, it is fast enough for me. My IR converted body should be back to my by the end of the month (earlier hopefully), at which point my conversion (body-wise at least) to Canon will be complete...then comes the additional lenses...

Good to know! I'm asking since I'm currently thinking of getting a 5D MK2 with the 24-105mm F/4L lens... My 10D has served me well for the last 6 years or so but I think I'm due for an upgrade!
Thanks for the info Eric!

The camera is stunning, but I am not sure that the 24-105 will give enough performance for it...the lens is on the edge of the L line - good, but not stunning, so it might be better to stick with a few primes (the 85mm and 28mm for example) to match the sensor's image quality...but it shouldn't be too hard to find people testing the body with the 24-105, and see if it meets your needs!

The 24-105 is the one that comes bundled with the 5D MK 2 which is part of the reason I'm considering it... It offers a decent range zoom since I don't have the money to buy the 24-70 2.8L and 70-200 2.8L which, I think, would be ideal for me.
Even though I'm considering getting a few prime lenses eventually for larger apertures (1.2 - 2.8 range), I want to start with a zoom lense because I'm always (and I do mean always) zooming in and out during a shoot and I would be switching lenses 87 times per shoot with prime lenses...
Other than that it's a question of money... I don't make money with my photos so I currently can't really justify spending several thousands on lenses even if I'm very tempted to do so!
As far as I know, the 24-105 was also the lense that was offered with the original 5D ans as far as I know people seemed to be happy with it but I'll as around anyway!
Thank you very much for the info Eric, I really appreciate it!

Well, I'll agree the focal range is almost perfect, but the couple of good tests I've seen support some of my concerns - but almost all zooms have distortion on the wide side...so perhaps it is a moot point.
One thing to consider is that on the 5D, the lens had fewer issues as it was a lower resolution camera...on the MK II, only the 85mm f/1.2 hasn't disappointed me yet...it just seems like the other lenses (35mm f/2, 50mm f/1.8 and the 100mm macro) don't have enough resolution to exceed the lens....they look good, but compared to the 85mm, they are left in the dust!

Thank you for the compliment, I am glad you enjoyed viewing the image! The shower (lit by 1 60 watt bulb) was a definite test of the new camera!
