Description Tonnage's energies stem from extrapolating and tapping into what physics refers to as the strong nuclear force that binds quarks together in all atomic nuclei. Since this phenomena is constantly occurring in every atom, his ability to draw and channel endless power into strength or energy bursts has not yet shown an upper limit. He has harnessed the power to deliver unimaginably destructive energy blasts and shown the ability to repel them as well. With extreme effort Tonnage has proven himself strong enough to terra-form his own homeworld in order to suppress a planet-destroying core breach by moving an entire continent enough to seal the threatening rupture. Tonnage was also able to muster a beam of searing force powerful enough to disintegrate a large moon threatening to collide with his home world. The massive, sustained discharge brought forth during the effort rendered Tonnage unconscious while ripping open a portal that flung him into our solar system. Tonnage fell to Earth yet survived, and has no memory of his homeworld or alien origins.

For now I do, but I want to add some alien edge and grittiness it soon. Thanks for checking him out!

No problem! Keep up the work

Did you notice the other comment I made about Tonnage the last time we talked about him?

You mean the one about how fun it would be to see a bunch of supervillains thrown at him? Yep, and I totally agree with that!

StarGamerWorld In reply to EricLinquist [2013-05-31 23:24:10 +0000 UTC]

Yep! The question is, how many can he take on at once? Dozens? Hundreds?

EricLinquist In reply to StarGamerWorld [2013-05-31 23:56:25 +0000 UTC]

Well, sir, I think that would depend on a lot of things: how much power would each adversary bring?, is magic involved?, any tech ultra-weapons?, any aliens?, is he fighting Superman or Hulk level strength or a cosmic powered entity like the Silver Surfer?, what about telekinetics or mind-control villains? If you're talking average humans, I don't think you can stack any amount of humans on him where he won't be able to flex out. I mean, a dozen humans are not going to be able to tackle him and hold him down.

StarGamerWorld In reply to EricLinquist [2013-05-31 23:59:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh, hmm... Well that definitely is something to think about. I know normal humans wouldn't even faze him in any sort of numbers, but as for supervillains, well yeah that does depend. I mean which villains would you throw at Tonnage if you could?

This does make me wonder actually, would I-Force be capable of taking on multiple villains at once as well? He DOES seem to have the power levels capable of it from what I recall.

Cool question, bud. I-Force's formidability stems from a nice array of both offensive and defensive powers. His shields work similarly to Susan Storm's force shielding which essentially gives him a GL-like ability to use hard constructs to protect and attack on multiple fronts. The eye beams are thermal either way, hot or cold, or plain ol' concussive. So yeah, I-Force can be punching and kicking someone with mega-strength while eye-beaming others while force-shield-bludgeoning others. He's got serious game. Tonnage is just pure brute force that's hard to damage. He can also stomp or hand-clap damage at a distance like Gorgon or Hulk. I think Doomsday, Terrax or Black Adam might make for great villains to throw at Tonnage.

Ooh nice! I was wondering about I-Force cause IIRC he didn't just have an array of powers, but he had serious degrees and limits he could reach with his powers. There was like a recorded 200,000+ ton limit he was capable of lifting, right?

What about Corpus actually? Considering his shapeshifting abilities and instant regen, how would he fare against hordes of enemies, whether normal foes or supervillains?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EricLinquist In reply to StarGamerWorld [2013-06-01 05:15:18 +0000 UTC]

The largest weight I-Force has lifted was a 260,000 ton cruise ship out of the water. It was a gigantic effort for him though. But, who knows, since his powers are magic-based, once he exerts himself to the breaking point, he might have access to and be able to tap into a whole new power level!

Corpus is another guy who's got a lot of tools in the kit. He's an absolute amorphous shapeshifter using any component cells of a standard human body, so can create hundreds of concrete-like fighting appendages, spikes and hand-held weapons while having full stretching and giant-sizing capabilities as well. Since he can go liquid as well (blood cells) he can move almost anywhere needed and can replicate anyone's appearance. He can eliminate all distracting pain receptors and instantly heals any injury. He can eject fatigue poisons so never tires. He's also the most intellectual member of the group with the highest IQ. Though still experimenting, if Corpus converts enough cells into brain cells, he can access mental powers but it renders him immobile at this time. So, yeah, he be a bad-ass.

Haha, nice! So sounds like I-Force might have no true limits, and Corpus is definitely incredibly versatile.

Now just to ask, will you ever throw hordes of supervillains at Tonnage, I-Force, or Corpus sometime?

I don't have an active story where that happens yet but, as with the justice league, Avengers and X-men, it's sure to happen eventually! Wish I could create full-time, you know?

Yeah don't we all. Still, hope it might happen sometime, if nothing else than a simple drawing

EricLinquist In reply to Quel2many [2013-05-30 17:18:02 +0000 UTC]

Hard to decide on a finished look for him because he's all about massive musculature. I just didn't want to do a skin color that's been done before like red - red Hulk - green - green Hulk - magenta - Despero - settled for gold skin. Needed a stylized T for Tonnage somewhere and SOME sort of upper body uniforming. He's a WIP for sure!

Should be some pretty dope alien technology built into the uniform he came in on that would keep it intact and all, but yeah, you're right!

Sure, I would be willing but it might have to wait in line just a little bit depending on what I have going on at the time (commissions, comic pages, art trades, etc.).

EricLinquist In reply to StarGamerWorld [2013-05-30 14:33:17 +0000 UTC]

He's a newbie at this juncture and just exists in the universe right now with incomprehensible strength. In the Marvel Universe he'd be a guy considered as having near-cosmic level strength and power!

StarGamerWorld In reply to EricLinquist [2013-05-30 15:41:36 +0000 UTC]

Ah, interesting! Does he play the role of hero, villain, or just the common passerby who tries to live for now?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EricLinquist In reply to StarGamerWorld [2013-05-30 15:46:06 +0000 UTC]

Inherently good for now. But betrayals and disenchantment with humans may alter his perspectives on down the line.

Should be fun then. Also could be fun to see how many supervillains you can throw at this guy at once

Wow, that is exactly how Gilead's strength works! Very cool character, Eric. A bigun'!! lol For me he'd be TONS of fun to draw. (yeah I said it.)

EricLinquist In reply to hulkdaddyg [2013-05-30 14:25:03 +0000 UTC]

I kinda thought you'd go for this guy! Wow! I was up until 4:20 am in the morning studying universal forces and gluons and fluons and quarks and atomic nuclei just to dope out a source for his mega-powers that would make sense! I feel like a physics professor in training now! lol! I just went in and boned up on your Gilead bio and fortunately our big dudes seem to enjoy a distinct difference in where their power originates. I read that Gilead uses nuclear fusion (atomic nuclei colliding at high speeds) on a cellular level to generate power (like the sun).

Tonnage is tapping into something different: the fundamental strong nuclear force that keeps protons and neutrons inside the atomic nucleus, a phenomenon considered the strongest known force in the universe at this time (sort of like an inter-nucleus form of gravity).

I've been wanting to add an incomprehensibly strong fellow to my universe's roster with world-breaking potential and Tonnage just happened! This may not be his final look but I'm almost there! Thanks for weighing in, sir!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hulkdaddyg In reply to EricLinquist [2013-05-30 19:37:26 +0000 UTC]

You are, correct, sir! That is a big difference. The nuclear fusion Gilead generates has a lot of side effects that give him his power set. So it's not exactly the same. The only real similarity is that they are creating this phenomena inside their bodies and are able to use it for superhuman feats.Gilead does however tap into this strong force for his tactile gravikinesis. This is how he can hold large objects together without them crumbling under their own weight. Tonnage here should be able to do that as well. Gilead can also manipulate regular gravitometric forces as well so he can fly and some other stuff, but he's no Graviton. Tonnage here is stronger than Gilead normally, which is cool. I probably should sub this guy in This is Happening for I-Force.
It's cool you did all the physics research! I watch and read physics stuff all the time so I can include it in my character development. for nerding out! LOL!
