Kids these days…

In a bright day on a grassy forest floor, there was a little girl, with black hair in two little hair ties, playing with a dollhouse and two dolls, one male and another female. Then darkness overcame her dolls and herself she turned around to see what would cause this shadow only to smile at who it was.

“Hey there!” The Hatsune said, putting her dolls down to greet her guests. One girl’s hair cut short with dark colored hair with a touch of purple, with a confident grin on her face. The other had her hair long and black, both hands at her sides wearing a simple smile. “Hiya Hatsune!” Ammy said still wearing her grin and waving her hand as a form of hello. “Good morning Hatsune-Chan!” Hano said giving a formal bow with her hands still at her sides.

“Hano… you don’t need to use Chan. We are all girls here and we’ve known each other since we were little babies.” Hatsune said putting her arms at her hips. “Oh, I’m terribly sorry Hatsune. I was only being formal.” Hano said bowing formally again, Ammy took this time to notice what Hatsune was doing. “Hey, Hatsune. Are those…?” Ammy asked. Hatsune then turned around and saw that Ammy was pointing at her dolls. Hatsune then smiled with joy again. She then sat back down, and so did Ammy and Hano.

“These are my most precious possessions, my ninja dolls! My uncle gave them to me!” Hatsune explained. “Hey can I see the kunoichi doll for a second Hatsune?” Ammy asked. Hatsune then handed Ammy the doll. Ammy then examined the doll for a good 5 seconds. She had blonde hair in 4 hair ties and perfect skin. She then thought that she saw this Kunoichi in real life, Ammy turned her head to look at something. “Nawwww… can’t be.” Ammy told herself and handed it back to Hatsune.

“That’s a really nice doll Hatsune; I wish I had a doll just as pretty.” Ammy said in admiration. “Dolls? Is that what they are?” Hano asked, confused in just looking at them. Hatsune and Ammy then gave a surprised gasp. “You’ve never played with dolls before?” Hatsune asked. “Well, my mom has had me study things that are that shape. But they are bigger, like adult-sized and they aren’t as pretty. What do you do with them?” Hano asked. “Do with them?” Hatsune asked, “You play with them of course!” Hatsune said in a joyful expression. Here let me show you. Hatsune then picked up both of her dolls and put them in the house.

“Hello Hunny, I’m back from the mission.” Said the male doll, or at least that’s what Hatsune intended. “There you are. It took you long enough, where have you been?” The Kunoichi doll said while sitting on the couch. “I…came back from the mission.” The male ninja said. “I know that, but after the mission.” The Kunoichi replied. “Oh…that… well the guys wanted to get some drinks and they were buying…so…” The male doll replied rubbing his hand behind his head in a guilty fashion. “Darling, you promised you’d be back in time to put the kids to sleep. You know what that means.” The Kunoichi doll said handing the male doll a small sponge. “I’ll get right on them…” The male doll said with a disappointed sigh. He then went to the sink and began washing the little plastic dishes. “When you’re done with that I’ll be in the bedroom.” The Kunoichi doll said as she exited the room and into another. The male doll kept on cleaning the dishes and uttered only one word with a sigh, “Troublesome”.

“Wait, that’s how you play dolls?” Ammy asked. Hatsune then stopped and looked over at Ammy in confusion. “Is their something wrong?” Hatsune asked. Ammy then fiddled with her fingers, trying not to be rude. “Well, shouldn’t there be more kissing and stuff. That’s what happens when I play with dolls.” Ammy asked. Hatsune then smiled, “I was just about to get to that part. But first I needed to show that the Kunoichi doll was in charge in order for Hano to understand.” Hatsune explained.

Ammy then put on her grin again and laughed. “Of course, but isn’t it automatic that the Kunoichi is more powerful than the guy.” Ammy said, and then Hatsune and Ammy began laughing together with a little giggle from Hano. “Hey Hatsune, can I play with the dolls now? I think I understand.” Hano asked. Hatsune then handed Hano the dolls and made room for her to move them in the house.

Hano the positioned the dolls, the Kunoichi was working over the stove and the man was right outside the door. Suddenly the man jumped through the door, kicking it down the next. “Good evening my love! I’m sorry I have kept you waiting, for was helping an old lady to her house.” The male doll said standing in what looked like a pose. The Kunoichi then let go of the pan she was frying up on and walked to the female ninja casually and then stopped in front of him. “You… IDIOT!” The Kunoichi doll said bonking the male ninja over the head and sending him to the ground. “Your daughter is asleep! And so help me if you woke her up, YOU are going to spend the next 4 hours getting her to settle down!” The Kunoichi said holding the male doll by the chest and shaking him. “My angel, I’m so sorry. I completely forgot about that, can’t we hug and make up?” The male ninja politely asked. The Kunoichi then stopped shaking him and held him in mid air. “You want to hug? I’LL GIVE YOU A HUG!” The Kunoichi then held the male ninja in a hug position, but it was no ordinary hug. The Kunoichi doll kept squeezing and squeezing until “Ack…” The male doll went. The Kunoichi doll then threw him on her shoulder. “You can be really noisy at times darling. Well better get you fixed up. It’s about time you took a vacation day anyway.” The Kunoichi doll said and gave the male doll a kiss on the cheek and went into another room.

“Hano… that was…” Hatsune said, almost speechless of words. “AWESOME!” Ammy exclaimed with extreme joy. Then all three of them busted out laughing, even Hano was laughing loudly. “That was a really powerful kunoichi Hano. You were awesome!” Hatsune praised and Hano just blushed with joy.

Meanwhile, two boys were hiding in the grass. Blunt plastic kunai’s in one hand and paper Shuriken in the other. Their objective… catch the elusive frog of Nara Forest creek. “Hey Asuma, do you see it?” The little boy with striking blonde hair asked? “Not yet Masaru, hey wait hear that?” Asuma asked. The two boys kept quiet for a good 5 seconds and heard a faint sound emanating from in front of them. “Masaru, on 3 we are going to jump into the grassy area in front of us. If you see the frog, catch it.” Asuma explained. Masaru only nodded.

1…2…3!

The two boys then sprang from the tall grass and jumped into a clear patch of earth in front of them. They both moved around frantically searching for the frog. But they were only twisting around each other. Then Asuma the looked around to find there was nothing. He then looked right in front of him to see the frog they were looking for right in front of him, staring back at him. The frog then turned around and hopped away, deeper into Nara Forest. He was long gone.

“Aw man…” Asuma said as he got up and dusted himself off. Masaru then got up right after, but didn’t bother to dust off. “What happened Asuma?” Masaru asked. “He got away.” Asuma answered; suddenly Asuma heard the sound of girl laughing. “Bleh, it’s them.” Asuma said. Masaru then looked toward the sound and saw the girls laughing hysterically over something. “Yeah, girls make me so mad. They’re so weird. Why can’t they be normal like us?” Masaru asked sticking his tongue at them.

Out of the blue, Ammy stopped laughing and turned her head toward Masaru and Asuma and gave Masaru and evil glare. Masaru automatically freaked out and ran behind a tree to escape her gaze. “Girls… are really scary!” Masaru said peaking his head behind the tree seeing if Ammy was looking away again. “Girls… are Troublesome. Every one of them.” Asuma stated. Masaru then came out of hiding since Ammy ignored Masaru. “Well what about our moms?” Masaru asked. This caught little Asuma off guard and then crouched down to figure out a way to answer that.

The girls were back to playing dolls, except for Hano who seemed to be looking off into space. Hatsune and Ammy seemed to notice this and tapped her on the shoulder. “What’s up Hano?” Hatsune asked. “Umm, Ammy is that blonde boy your brother?” Hano asked. “If you mean the annoying one, then yes that’s Masaru.” Ammy said in an annoyed tone. “Don’t be like that to your little brother Ammy, he’s just learning.” Hatsune protected, trying to think of her and her own little brother. “He’s cute.” Hano suddenly said. Ammy and Hatsune were then confused. “Who?” Ammy asked. “Masaru-kun, I think he’s cute.” Hano explained. Hatsune and Ammy then looked at each other and then laughed together like a big joke was just told. Hano wasn’t laughing.

“Cheers everyone!” Temari said as everyone held their cups together and took a drink of whatever they were drinking. “Ahh.” They all said as they put down their glasses. “This was a grand idea Temari; we hardly get to see each other like this anymore.” Sakura commented as she took another dose of her beverage. “And I’m able to get this workaholic to stop taking every request he gets.” Sakura said as he pointed to the man in a green male kimono. “Sakura… that’s not fair…” Lee said looking slightly depressed because of what Sakura had just said, but everyone was just laughing.

“Trust me Lee; you don’t need to put so much thought into it. Women are troublesome but if you just let them have their way, everything will be fine.” Shikamaru said with one eye open in his relaxed pose of lying down on the floor. “There’s the old lazy guy I know, why don’t I see more of him in the office?” Naruto said holding sitting down while giving his typical wide grin. “Probably because I don’t feel like helping you with all that paperwork.” Shikamaru said with an annoyed tone of voice. Naruto then turned his head slowly and demonically to give Shikamaru a death glare, which he avoided by not bothering to open his eyes. “Now now Naruto, drink your tea, you need to be calm.” Hinata said handing Naruto his cup of green tea and Naruto thankfully took it. Then without warning a loud girly laughing could be heard just a few yards from where they were sitting and attracted their attention.

“Hmm, those kids.” Shikamaru said getting back up and looking to see what was happening. Hatsune and Ammy were laughing about something with dolls in their hands, while Hano was staring towards where the boys were. “I wonder…” Sakura was pondering to herself with her finger on her lips and a clever smile was forming. “Is my little Hano interested in your Asuma Temari?” Sakura asked. Temari then began to choke on her last sip, Shikamaru didn’t really respond. “Sakura… don’t you think… it’s a little TOO early to match make.” Temari said not trying to give Sakura any ideas. “I’m just fooling with you Temari.” Sakura said waving her hand back and forth giving out short laugh.

“Well, you do know what they say. The next generation always matures faster than the last.” Shikamaru inquired out of the blue. Everyone then turned to Shikamaru with alarmed faces and all at once saying, “EHHHH?!!” Shikamaru shocked by this reaction replied with, “Well, that’s what science today says anyway. I didn’t really mean it.” Everyone then calmed down and took a sigh of relief. “I think what Shika is trying to say is, look at ourselves.” Temari attempted to clarify. Naruto and Lee, still being the strong idiots they are didn’t understand. Sakura then sighed and shook her head.

“You two… what Temari is trying to say is the three of us are all couples that have different origins. Naruto, you and Hinata didn’t even talk to each other and know of each other’s feelings until you were put in a fatal situation. Temari and Shikamaru are both from different ninja villages, not the friendliest of terms for love to bloom.” Sakura explained, Naruto and Hinata chuckled to themselves then and Sakura looked over trying to find out what was so funny. “And Sakura, you ignored Lee all the time when we were kids even though he acted like a prince to you.” Hinata added. Sakura then remembered all those times when she was so stubborn, and blushed of frustration. Everyone laughed.

“It’s true; we all come from romance stories that are only written in fiction. But it happened didn’t it. And well, maybe that will show for even greater romances for our children.” Shikamaru said. “Still… thinking of love at their age… its scary thinking of my little Ammy in a relationship… I can’t let go of her yet!” Naruto said hugging Hinata for support. The laughing continued again. “It’s okay Naruto… I don’t think Ammy will like boys for a little while longer. But still… do you really think they could be feeling that at their age Sakura?” Hinata asked.

“Well, what Shika said is true to scientific study. Then again we humans are a confusing thing, and no amount of science will ever make sense of that.” Sakura answered. “It is also about youth and feelings, with youth the mind is young to a new start and finds everything around them fascinating and new. Their feelings are also new and youthful, and even that’s something we can’t help them or stop them with, they will need to find that out for themselves.” Lee said giving his thoughts on it.

“Well said Bushy-brow!” Naruto commended Lee. Lee then hung his head in shame and said, “Why do you still call me that…” Lee muttered. Sakura then gave a quiet giggle. “So, all we can do is wait and see what happens.” Temari said. “Like anything else good in life, and like any other romance story.” Hinata said with a bright smile. Shikamaru then take a long drink from his beverage and sat down the glass completely empty and gave a tired sigh. “Kids these days…”
