Description Persephone and Hades symbolize Lily and Snape. I am using the God of War video game twist, however. In God of War Chains of Olympus Persephone plots with the Titan Atlas. Persephone feels betrayed by the Olympians for letting her be taken by Hades. As Queen of the Underworld, she is never happy and seeks her revenge by destroying the gods and the world, her own death included. Kratos ultimately defeats Persephone and stops her plan in the process, saving the world in the process only being incidental.

The parallel is that Persephone is the goddess of spring and innocence. Lily is of innocence and sacrifice. A lily is also one of many symbols of Persephone. Hades is the God of the Underworld and often misunderstood as a bad person. Hideous as he was, he was not totally bad. Just upset and reclusive after winning domain of the Underworld. Snape was also a hideous person who was not totally bad.

Hades takes Persephone and (according to the God of War story) he is indirectly (or ultimately, depending how you look at it) responsible for her death at the hands of Kratos. Snape, who loved Lily, helped play a part in her death. Like Persephone who, according to traditional myth, eventually did like Hades somewhat, Lily did like Snape at one point, at least to the point to call him a friend. And like Hades, Snape didn't care to change that much. Hades did let her go back to earth for four to six months of the year (depending on the translation) so her mother, Demeter, would allow the plants to grow again, and Snape conversely did make her smile at a time, but both were blind with selfishness. And even though Persephone would have rather been dead than with Hades, he still preserves her body as a shrine. Similarly, Snape's Patronus was a doe after Lily had died.

I'm probably going to anger about half of the people because they hold Snape in high esteem. That's not what I'm trying to do. It's just a parallel I made up.

Character designs are based off of God of War and God of War Wiki.

i HATE snape with a passion so I almost never fave anything he's involved in no matter how much I like the piece but w/ Lily & the emotional nature I can't help but to make this an exception to my no snapes in my faves rule

Thanks! That's quite a comment.

I am not a Snape fan either. I "get" why he's so famous to the "evil romantic" sympathizers, but I have questions to those fans. What if Harry was a girl who looked like his mother (imagine how creepy it would be to have Snape lusting at "Harriett")? And that's not a stretch either because those fans have no problem with their "Snarry" fan art where Harry is 11 years old (Snape and little Hermione is the other creepy pairing). Also, fans, are you saying you wish Snape was Harry's father? That would be a boring story.

Indeed!

Do you mean Snape Hades has been used in fanfics? That's cool!

there is fanfic that mimicks the myth, and one where there is a wedding where snape dresses as hades and hermioneis persephone...the myth is also referenced. It's fairly common in the SS/HG ship.

Read the description. I have several Greek mythology Harry Potter themes other than this, too, if you'd care to look...
