nicely done. Did you convert the whole picture to b/w and color it after? Or, did you mask off the ring and made everything else b/w?

I took the picture in as a normal jpg, I didn't set any processing on the camera to make this one black and white. In Photoshop, I simply duplicated the background layer, and desaturated it. Used a brush eraser, to erase that top duplicate black and white layer.
Yes, I could of masked it, but why didn't I think of that. Heh, either way it worked.

yeah, that's what I usually do, except I have a plugin for b/w conversion which is pretty neat, I use layer masks too cause it doesn't require an undo command to undo a mistake.
