This is the controller of the old PlayStation. It is in this condition because is not used from long time.
When I found it in my attic, I don't clean and I made immediately the photo becuase dusty and dirt represent the old things.
I'm happy if this bring you back many memories.

it be in perfect condidtion to- IF MY STUPID @SS LITTLE BROTHER DIDNT RIP UP THE LEFT CONTROL STICK!!! ( it still works perfectly fin but it hurts my thimb when it starts to dig in and it was my sytem AND NOT HIS!!!![he didnt even get in trouble that little shat >:T ] )
he also messed up all THREE of our PS2 controllers because aperantly he want to be a little hethan and fish every one off.....

A better representation would be a collection of commodore 64 games, or the joystick of an atari 2600. The very least the game pad of a master system/megadrive, your image is a representation of older gaming but it's no where near a perfect representation.

I would have to disagree. Although those are older systems, the gaming generation around my age (26) didn't really get ultra-hooked on gaming in recent history until about the Nintendo 64 and Playstation really got big. I'd go maybe as far back as a Super Nintendo controller for this, but I feel that might be pushing it.
For the current generation of gamers and games, this seems to be really fitting.

I'm 24 and i grew up on the consoles mentioned, but to be fair everyone i know that's my age grew up on the megadrive or snes.
The playstation isn't the defining console of a generation of gamers or games in general due to it's release price where most people simply couldn't afford one but by that time the snes and megadrive had seen a dramatic reduce in price due to age and tech advancement so the majority would still be enjoying/starting to get into those consoles.
The only generation this truly represents is a rich one.

Again, I cannot agree with that statement at all.
Me and my friends were and always have been dirt poor. While some of them are now more well off, some of us still are just dirt poor. *shrugs* Just how it is. The fact that, unlike many, I don't have the resources to dump into a mac or other better art program/mechine than mechanical pencil, a 7 year old scanner and a free program speaks enough to that end, I think stands atest to it.
All our gaming systems were second-hand or trade in, as were our games and everything else. My family got its playstation while my mom was working helping to flip apartments in the complex we lived ,in because it gave us a break on our rent, and someone left their playstation behind.
Many of my friends got them, their gaming systems, the same way. Even so, asking other people who were far more privileged than I and my friends were, no one states that an Atari is what comes to their mind when asked about gaming systems. Back then those were out, you really did need the money because you couldn't just by it used like you can now. Most people state playstation or, as you and I have both stated, the SNES represent the older gaming generations and where they came from.
I choose to say playstation because it is also the gaming system that, not only young children, but adults of the age grabbed onto as well. People who were saying 'video games are for kids' started singing a different toon when it and, to a lesser extent, the Nintendo 64 came into play. Where the majority of games were aimed at younger audiences, they started to target a much broader and older group than they had before.
What represents a generations is not what forbare it, but what it built itself upon. While past generations of gamers may have claimed the original Macintosh or the Atari, the people of this generations gamers, for whom this picture represents, is what truly makes up our gaming kin and likely the majority of us here.
Besides, who are we to debate this when it is the artist can speak for himself and I think he has. ^.^
