Fire. It was everywhere Sora looked. She knew this was a dream. Was it really, though? Sora looked around and her eyes were drawn to a man with long silver hair and a black outfit. She saw a long sword is his hand. "Masamune." Sora whispered to herself. She didn't know how she knew the sword's name. All she did know was that was it. As if sensing he was being watched, the man turned in her direction. His eyes were shadowed so she couldn't know their depths. The man smiled an evil smile and turned away, walking into the flames. Sora followed him and the vision changed. This time, she found herself in a forest and sounds of battle caught her ear. The man she followed was in combat with a shadow. Sora never saw who he was fighting or who won because then, she was pulled from sleep.

Sora’s amethyst eyes opened and she saw green. "Where am I?" she thought. "In our base." came a voice. Sora saw a young man looking at her from outside. He was with others. She kept her eyes on him. His comrades started muttering. The young man put his hand on the glass and Sora did the same, her hand mirroring his. "They're outside. Where I must be." she thought, careful not to project her thoughts like before. Her eyes began to glow yellow and the glass began to crack. "Cloud, get back!" shouted a girl with long hair.

It barely registered in Sora’s mind as she imagined the glass shattering. Shatter, it did. The liquid Sora was suspended in spilled out all over the place. She floated momentarily as everyone approached her, the young man in front. Sora looked at him again. His hair was blond and spiky and his eyes were blue. The girl who told him to get back had brown hair. Sora’s concentration finally gave out and she landed on her feet. Her knees then gave out and the man caught her as she fell. He began to remove the wires, which tracked Sora’s brain functions and her vitals, from her body. "Who are you?" Sora asked, her eyes closed and her head on his chest. "Cloud Strife. Are you all right, Sora?" he asked. "Sora? Yes, that's my name, isn't it?" she answered. Cloud gave her a tiny smile.

"Tifa, grab some towels." he ordered. The girl named Tifa, Sora recalled, was the one who warned Cloud away from the glass. She left and came back with towels. Cloud helped her dry Sora off. "Why did you bring me here?" Sora asked. "That will explained in due time, Sora." said Cloud. Sora looked around at his friends. Their thoughts and feelings leapt out at her. She looked back at Cloud and read his. His mind was in turmoil. She saw broken memories and memories she felt belonged to someone else. Even though she had slept a long time before, Sora’s eyes closed and she gave herself to the oblivion of sleep.
