I like this, but I feel like instead of a check list she should have a smartphone in her hand, then zoom in (perhaps as in inset pic) on the phone screen to show her searching for "How to fly commercial aircraft"

There is this from early this year... I suggested to a friend who is an editor at an aviation magazine that she should be invited to write up a story about how she performed a successful emergency landing and other things... but my friend declined... Pity... would have been a great column.

yeah well sometimes she even surprises me... literally! Like with this upcoming episode of the DD, her character actually made me change the plot slightly, simply because I wrote myself into a corner, and there's only one way Lali would respond...!

Making out in a piston-powered airplane is difficult. Headsets make it about impossible. The cables get in the way, as do the boom mics. If you remove the headsets, it's impossible to hear one another over the engine noise without yelling.Β

I was thinking that if it was something Lali would fly it HAD to be a gunship... I can just imagined what it would be like to have a 737 gunship after seeing a DC-10 used as a water tanker to fight fires in California... www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPedHJ⦠Imagine flying at 250 to 350 feet in a 4 engine passenger jet... Talk about close air support!
Now imagine what a 737 gunship with a 'Click to shoot" automated fire control system would be like... flying at 250 feet and able to carry far more ammo than the AC-47... Can you spell devastating? Of course you'd have to be crazy to fly something like that! I'm pretty sure those DC-10 air tanker pilots are crazy... if you've never been to Southern California...Β there are 40 to 70 mile an hour winds blowing over those hills during fires. Updrafts, down drafts, cross winds. Gotta be bTSH *t crazy to fly a plane that big over those hills.

Yeah the area that is in the video is more or less "High desert" -- the winds pass along the desert floor rising as they reach the mountains... just imagine the thermals rising up... 2500 ft @ ~90+ Deg. FΒ to 6000 to 8000 ft @ ~65 Deg. F

It gets really weird in the fall when the prevailing winds shift southΒ or south west to rise from the Mojave Desert over the San Gabriel mountains, down through the canyons into the L.A. basinΒ giving rise the the so called "Santa Ana Winds". You'\ll notice that all of the drops are from the mountain top down the ridge-line / mountain... I think that because the rising hot air gives the wings more lift. Southern California is one weird ass place-- They used to say there are four seasons there: Earthquake, Fire, Mud, and Riot
